Gar, I be thinking that using Pirates of th' Carribean as a reference be a bad move, me hearties.

Use more accurate sources, or even books about sailors. Horatio Hornblower springs to mind.

gotta find a suitable picture... I was thinking, either gunpowder, or those poles (I forget the name...) they use to ram the cannon ball down to the bottom of the cannon barrel.

Best not use the ramrods, as only the gun crew used that.

If you could find an image of a single cannonball, or a single charge, that would be best.

Now, One thing I have against having swordsman or pikeman or stuff like that is that EVERYONE was trained to do so. When a pirate boarded a ship, they used everyone on the deck, not just a small group of marines.

I've already got a pile of cannonballs for the rank of Jacktar. But I guess 1 cannonball would fit the bill. What do the charges look like? Google just brings up a load of battery chargers
