Very easy photoshop question how would go about removing the white part of this, so only the green button/white text is showing http://www.ihostphotos.com/imgt/58436.jpg thanks |
Re: Very easy photoshop question a) Graphics Department Question ;) b) as jpg you can't, I think you can as a gif and probably as a png, but I'm not sure, just so long as it's a file type that takes transparancies (which my teacher tells me gifs take them, I've just never actually had a need to do so). You'd just have to change your file type, then magic wand it, then Edit/clear, and you should be set :D |
Re: Very easy photoshop question He's talking about in photoshop, I believe. Use the magic wand tool and set the tolerance to 0. If you're getting ragged edges, slowly raise the tolerance until you select all of the part you want to remove. To get it to show up that way on the net you will have to save as a GIF or PNG. |
Re: Very easy photoshop question << Moved to Graphics from Tech >> |
Re: Very easy photoshop question Easiest way - Open in Photoshop. Goto FIlter>Extract Select a smallish brush size (I'd recommend about 12) Draw around the edge of the circle, keepng the bush on the edge of the circle. Fill in the centre Click OK :) |
Re: Very easy photoshop question The way myself and Inyri (don't think you noticed I did actually say that in there ;) ) is the easiest way, I myself have low blood circulation and over-active nerves so I try to stay away from extract unless it's absolutly necessary (or just sneak it over to my paint shop so I can use the background eraser which is FAR superior to the Photo Shop version of it :p ) |

Re: Very easy photoshop question http://img178.echo.cx/img178/4666/magicwand6zs.jpg Magic wand is the selected tool. You can see where the tolerance thing is, as well. |
Re: Very easy photoshop question the shortcut for the magic wand is w use it , it is very easy |
Re: Very easy photoshop question ok, i did the wand thing and cleared the background, easy, then i pasted it on to my other image, easy, i thought i had done it, then i used the perspective tool to put it at the right angle, i rejoiced, but it says i can save it, i almost put my head through the computer, if it helps i am trying to put.... http://www.ihostphotos.com/imgt/58683.jpg onto http://www.ihostphotos.com/imgt/58690.jpg thank you for putting up with me |
Re: Very easy photoshop question 1 Attachment(s) why did it say you couldn't save it? What reason did it give? Edit: http://forums.filefront.com/attachme...id=35228&stc=1 <- like that but two notches less perspective warped? |
Re: Very easy photoshop question If you want to keep transparency you have to save as a PNG or GIF. These filetypes will flatten the layers into one, but they will also keep any transparency you've created. |

Re: Very easy photoshop question well did you change the file type FIRST, that's sometimes teh key. and if you do need to flatten it for some reason you can always just merge visible it should (if memory serves) not remove the transparancy |
Re: Very easy photoshop question Merge Visible does not remove Transparency, if the White layer is hidden. GIF images, and practially all other images are flat. Save for the file types used by professional image editing software, such as PSD. This makes them smaller, but does not affect the quality of the image at all. Flattening is a Feature, not an error, and is done when you save the image as a web compatible file. |
Re: Very easy photoshop question That easier than you all seem to think. 1. Use the magnet lasso to select the edge of the grean circle. 2. Then right click the image and select "Layer via Copy". 3. Delete the Background layer. 4. Save as .gif and use default settings. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...lence64/10.gif |
Re: Very easy photoshop question 1 Attachment(s) http://forums.filefront.com/attachme...id=35259&stc=1 Doesn't have that chunk taken out of it. Use the magic wand... |

Re: Very easy photoshop question Funny, I didn't crop anything. Sorry tho, I missed reading the last few post, so I didn't see the whole task that was to be done. Still you guys are making it sound more difficult than it really is. And I was not trying to do a first rate job. I was only trying to show a quick and easy method that can look good if you take the time. As for the Ckunk I supposedly didn't take out. There is no chunk to take out. The only color data remaining in the image I posted is the Green GO. As for the rest of the canvas space, there is no color data. Which mean there is less data than if you have defined Transparencies. But as it seems to be explianed in the posts that I missed, Transparent areas are not needed at all. So I'm wondering why you even talking about transparency at all. |

Re: Very easy photoshop question you dont need to select the white areas and delete them. just select and drag what you do want into the other image. Why do you need to delete the white area? |
Re: Very easy photoshop question Quote:
I can't think of an easier way to get rid of it than selecting it and deleting it. Two clicks, if all goes well. With images like that I find it easier to quickly select the background, then invert the selection to easily (and more smoothly/cleanly) select what I want. |
Re: Very easy photoshop question the easiest way is to make a transparent layer and put it under it. then use the wand tool to get rid of the white on the original. then make the transparent layer to somthing that will contrast against the color your getting rid of. just zoom in (if needed) and erasea it. then make the bottom layer transparent again (however you want to do it) |
