a) Graphics Department Question ;)
b) as jpg you can't, I think you can as a gif and probably as a png, but I'm not sure, just so long as it's a file type that takes transparancies (which my teacher tells me gifs take them, I've just never actually had a need to do so). You'd just have to change your file type, then magic wand it, then Edit/clear, and you should be set :D

He's talking about in photoshop, I believe. Use the magic wand tool and set the tolerance to 0. If you're getting ragged edges, slowly raise the tolerance until you select all of the part you want to remove.

To get it to show up that way on the net you will have to save as a GIF or PNG.

Easiest way -

Open in Photoshop.

Goto FIlter>Extract

Select a smallish brush size (I'd recommend about 12)

Draw around the edge of the circle, keepng the bush on the edge of the circle.

Fill in the centre

Click OK :)

The way myself and Inyri (don't think you noticed I did actually say that in there ;) ) is the easiest way, I myself have low blood circulation and over-active nerves so I try to stay away from extract unless it's absolutly necessary (or just sneak it over to my paint shop so I can use the background eraser which is FAR superior to the Photo Shop version of it :p )

Magic wand is the selected tool. You can see where the tolerance thing is, as well.
