Lately a lot of people aren't as active as they were, so are most moderators apparently. I have noticed this weird problem of either some spam bot posting spamy stuff or some idiot posting pictures that can scar young kids for life . I have reported everything I could, yet it seems to take forever for these problems to be removed.
I don't know, maybe more active moderators for the spam forum, general discussion and the pub, since those are places where spambots and trolls frequent? I don't know just a suggestion.
It is unfortunate that it took the time that it did to get rid of those pictures. I trashed them and banned that member as soon as I recieved the reported post email. It would have only been another half hour before I checked on the forums anyway but again it would have been ideal to trash them as soon as they were posted.
We have to be careful on how the forums are run as if we become to strict people will cry foul and if we are to leniant people will start saying we don't do anything.
You did the right thing by hitting the report button though and we would never discourage people from using that even if it is a close thing that the mods just need to be aware of before, lets say flaming starts.
All reported posts are looked at by the correct mods, super mods and even the admins.
Personally, there are many occasions where reported posts are being made at the time I'm asleep or breakfasting, considering there's quite the Australian and American population around here. Whenever I'm online and see a reported post, or auto-moderated visitor messages, I'll be sure to delete them A.S.A.P.
I regularly delete offending posts, ban offending members/bots when I'm on the forums and see something that needs to be dealt with. The times I'm able to be around though vary as I'm sure it does with all the other mods/super mods/admins since we're in different parts of the world and have things going on outside the forums.

Totally not questioning anybody on the staff, you all do a sterling job, but there is a period in (my) morning where there's not a lot of either regular members, or any staff on at all, and it's basically open season for spam bots for the next 4-5 hours until everybody wakes up, is all.

I'd say those three forums actually have some of the most active forum moderators. Although, I'm a moderator in two of those, so I may be biased.
However, I have to agree with FileTrekker, there are time gaps in our availability. But, there also isn't really much we can do about it, we're volunteers, we go to work, we sleep, we go outside.
In this particular case, according to the logs because I was asleep, the staff were on it almost immediately. But, moderators can't ban, so the best we can do is delete his posts as they come, which often leaves innocent members caught in the crossfire. Then, he was using alt accounts, further complicating the Super Moderator's efforts.

Reason: Gotta stop being so indecisive...
Can't be helped, really. Without more active members we won't get more active staff. Without more active staff we won't be able to improve response times. So post more, volunteer more, tell your
friends about this place.
As for the trolls, if you have a dedicated troll he will be able to create some chaos anyway. Eventually they'll get bored though and realize that their spam can be deleted much faster than he can create it.

This.
However there are staff that visit here several times a day of all times. I personally visit at least 4 times a day ranging from 9 am to 10 pm.

Again this. Once a Troll has been identified then the staff kind of close ranks and act as a shield against them. Mods call for supermods to come and ban which is done.

Very true, we have some very good staffers here without which this place would probably spontaneously combust. Just not the same number we used to have half a decade ago, when we also had more active members to recruit from.
