Gold Beach (MAP) The main British objective at Gold beach was to reach the town of Bayeux, 10km (six miles) south west of the landing area. The force that landed at Gold was also to link up with the Juno beach force to the east; meanwhile 47th Commando would land at Port-en-Bessin, about 8km (five miles) west, capture the town and link up with US forces from Omaha. http://forgottenhope.bf1942files.com...ch_1_Small.jpg http://forgottenhope.bf1942files.com...ch_2_Small.jpg |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) I like the look of that map, very much. it has dead cows! what could be better than dead cows? |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) lol the dead humans peeps have asked be scattered across the beack ;) Talk about teaser shots, this is gonna be one hell of a map Nice work guys :D |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Nice barrage balloons :nodding: |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) i love this map already!! the cows are nice, and those craters looks better than some others ive seen done....*cough*BG42*cough* And the barrage balloons add to the atmoshpere :bows: O and as far as i know this is my first post... :nodding: |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Looks great, can't wait to cower behind some conveiniently placed bovine. I think it's funny how the barrage balloons are so relatively low, since the ceiling in BF1942 is low. Heh. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) bf has no ceiling you can take a helicopter and let it go up in the air forever and itll take you a proportionate time to fall down |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) [QUOTE=FactionRecon]i love this map already!! the cows are nice, and those craters looks better than some others ive seen done....*cough*BG42*cough* QUOTE] When I saw the cows and craters together it reminded me of CoD Burnville. Map looks good. How big is it? |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) same here....thats why i love it so much! And yes, how big is this map gonna be, and what parts take up what proportions ex: beach 20%, fields 50% or somethin like that |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) WOOOOOOO UPDTAES!!!!! OMGZZZ!!!!!!!!!! *runs around like a tard hugging various staff members out of sheer happyness* What about Juno and Sword beach? They never get any attention..... they could have a special D-day maps only server ;) Just an idea. PS: The map looks like Karelia quality, can't wait!:) |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) This map is gonna be awesome. I can't wait to play it! |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Im with Rob here, great idea!. Looove western european maps (currently there are too few IMO) where americans fight germans :bows: |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Quote:
Maybe give em american voice commands instead of british though.... Personally i think Omaha beach has been done to death and im growing sick of constantly only hearing about Omaha when D-day is mentioned. I seldomly hear anyone mention Sword, Gold, Juno and Utah. Good job team, finally doing something few have done.:nodding: |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) probably because the other beaches went without relative incident, at least compared to the slaughter on omaha beach. Not to say they were any less important, just that theres more to talk about with the omaha landing than with the others. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Great, finally another western Europe beach map besides Omaha and *coughs* Norway. Also, if ANYONE has ever beaten Norway as Axis, I'd love to know. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) that pretty much sums it up |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Nice but maybe some more screens would be nice! |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Omaha gets the most recognition mainly because it was american. Anyway, great ass map. I cant wait to do some mad cow/crater dashes! |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Really cool looking map! GJ! |

Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Those barrage balloons are almost photorealistic! Gotta love the dead Holsteins all over the place! |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) So this map is completed now? But please changes the brits skins, desert uniforms doesn't fit in. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Dead cows! Oh, the humanity! My little bovine friends have been slain! *Runs away, sobbing* |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) There must be an Opel Blitz on that map :P |

Re: Gold Beach (MAP) How stupid of a comment is that? Omaha had the stiffest resistance and that's obvious. lol british desert skins at gold beach! |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Great choice for a map! Omaha Beach was, without doubt, the hardest fight on D-Day and should receive the most attention. Unfortunately Hollywood and the game industry have exaggerated this to such a degree that the British and Canadian landing beaches in particular appear as 'cakewalks'. The only British VC of D-Day was won on Gold Beach (Sgt Major Stan Hollis). 413 men were lost. A couple of days later those who landed at Gold came up against the crack Panzer Lehr Division. Despite this there's hardly a mention of Gold or Juno Beach in the movie version of the Longest Day... Yeah, it would be nice to have a Brit infantry skin with camo net on the helmet, khaki drab uniform, Stens etc... |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) I think its very odd but the barrage balloons look the EXACT same as those in a game called Pacific Warriors and the cows look like the ones from ummm I forgot if it was call of duty or medal of honor... Then again the graphics where not that good in pacific warrior and im sure barrage balloons looked the same and I dont know how cows can look diffrent... lol |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) I can guarentee you that the Omaha Beach invasion gets nowhere near as much praise in Britain, or in any country other than the US, for that matter. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Quote:
I assure you both the barrage baloons and the cows were made from scratch. We do not use models from other games, altho we are using the music from MOH, with permission from EA might i add. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Bah, im not going to argue anymore about omaha. it has way more to do with the fact that it was the american beach, and they fucked it up, then how hard the resistance was. Anywho, as asked before, how far back will the beach go? Something nice and long like keriliea would be sweet. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) how about a sniper kit left somewhere hard-to-find? Nothing beats taking potshots from a crater. It'll be old-school sniping (WWI that is). |

Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Omaha Beach is recognized because it was an American landing beach where almost 250,000 soldiers were killed or wounded. Heres the beach landings: Omaha and Utah-Americans Gold and Sword-British Juno-Canadian/British Omaha was the deadliest beach because every other beach had DD(duplex drive) tanks. These tanks left the Navy fleet 2 hours before the landing crafts did. The DD tanks were supposed to land on the beach right before the infantry(these tanks could travel both on land and sea because a propeller was added) and destroy the gunners in the pillboxes and sandbags. 26 out of the 28 sank before they reached the beach and thats why you see the men getting slaughtered because there was no suppressing fire from the DD tanks. Other beaches had minimal casualties because they had the DD tanks on their beaches. Anyways, nice models on the cows and barrage balloons. |

Re: Gold Beach (MAP) I thought it was something like 5000..... |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) 175,000 men took part in the beach landings total... 250,000 died on omaha? ;) But seriously, us americans fucked omaha for ourselves. Our bombers missed the beach/bunkers by miles, whereas the other beaches were bombed to oblivion. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) yeh, you yanks nerfed that landing prety bad. |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) The book 'Gold Beach' by Christopher Dunphie has the following figures: Sword: 28,845 landed, 630 killed or wounded Gold: 25,000 landed, 413 killed or wounded Juno: 21,400 landed, 304 killed, 574 wounded Omaha: 34,000 landed, over 2000 killed or wounded Utah: 23,250 landed, no k or w figures supplied - just 'light casualties' I hope Normandy maps like this have some real thick bocage hedgerows and sunken lanes in the inland zones... |
Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Will there be planes on this map? I'm only asking because of the barrage balloons....there probably wasn't much involvement in the actual event. Cheers |

Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Quote:
Yes I have seen it done many times, actualy I think it's hard to play allied, having 20 Machine guns at you when you land. But once a flag is taken teh germans are have a 25% chance of winning. |

Re: Gold Beach (MAP) Axis kill all british ships, insant win for axis. They just have to scramble and sink the ships in the first few min. |
