deployed .30cal should use the prone animation, instead of the crouch. |
Re: deployed .30cal yes! and make it turnable again! |
Re: deployed .30cal All the machine gun animations should be fixed so that the gunner is prone almost level with the top of the gun. IRL machine gunners did not expose themselves very much over the top of a bunker. Oh and I also agree on making them more turnable. I grabbed a .50cal kit on Bulge and ran around the whole map looking for a good spot to deploy it, but there isn't much when the thing only turns 30 degrees or so. it should be the same as stationary Browning .50; that is to say, nearly 180 degrees around. - Lat |
Re: deployed .30cal Do you have a 50 cal and a 30 cal for infantry? |
Re: deployed .30cal its .30cal, not way its .50. that for mounted vechiles. all other stationary MGs should use the crouch animation. the Gun on a stick on a sandbag MG should be replaced with tripod mounted MGs. |
Re: deployed .30cal actualy they had 50 cal machinguns which could be deployed by a team just like a 30 cal. I am also pretty sure that the allies MG that DICE modeled is the M2 50 cal machinegun used in WW2 and today in the US army. |

maybe the FH mod is using the .50 cal as a model for their .50 and .30...but if you ever look as a .30 cal in real life you'll notice it has a single handle vs. the twin handles of the .50 cal... oh...and most deployable machineguns for infantry divisions were .30 cal... today they still use the .50 cal and if you see it fire you'll notice its more of a cannon than anything...they are pretty big and difficult to move...the .30 cal is much lighter and less powerful but can be carried and mounted on lighter vehicles like jeeps... heh...a .50 cal sounds like "chunk, chunk, chunk" while a .30 cal sounds like the ingame sounds... |
Re: deployed .30cal yea I was pretty sure that they just used the M2 by Dice for both 30 and 50 cal. Or maybe they only have 50 cals on planes....... I thought to myself if that MG on the back of the jeep is supposed to be a 50 cal than the jeep would be doing flips when it fired. :) |
Re: deployed .30cal Its a 50 cal. Dice wrongly skinned the ammo box to say 7.92mm(30 cal). |

I hope FH puts in there .30 cal to take out those misconceptions... |
Re: deployed .30cal i like how the machine guns can become mines too |

Re: deployed .30cal Call me noob, but i can't figure out where and when to get that 30 Cal. I only saw it once on Bocage and it was deployed already. So my question is howe do you deploy un deploy it? How do you move it and where can i find it? |
Re: deployed .30cal Now if only I would have the knowledge of all the equivalants. All I know are 7.62=.30 and 12.7=.50. I need to find a complete list of conversions :uhm: |
Re: deployed .30cal No worries I have already modeled a .30 cal for FH =) I also just finished modeling a new G43 to replace the one that is ingame now. |

\Conversion/ 0.1cal=2.54mm 1mm=0.04cal |
Re: deployed .30cal you need at least 3 men to move a .50 cal. 1 for the gun, 1 for the tripod and 1 for the ammo. The M1919 .30 cal was more common at US GIs, because with it´s 18 kilos (no ammo) it was easier to move. Further it had no buttstock, but some kind of shoulder rings, which made it suitable for paratroopers. |

I always thought calibers were the grooves inside the barrel of the gun...but I just looked on dictionary.com and I guess caliber just means the barrel diameter... what are those grooves inside the gun called again? Anyone know? but when you talk about .50 cal aren't you saying 0.5 inch bullet right??? (heh...just making sure I know what I'm talking about...) oohhh, and Kampfer...are you going to post any new screenshots of your creations? |
Re: deployed .30cal Those groves are called rifling, hence the name rifle. They impart spin to the round as it travels down the barrel to stabilize it and improve accuracy. Rifling is measured in twist rate, the units being 1 full twist / the barrel length it took. So a .30-06 Springfield with 1:10 twist rate, the rifling makes a full twist in 10 inches of barrel travel. And yes .50 caliber is 1/2 inch. Caliber with a leading .XXXX number was a term used to describe diameters inside an inch instead of saying "five tenths and sixteen hundreds caliber"... You can see why this was shortened. Sizes over an inch (And under it to about .6) tended to only occur in cannon or mortar pieces at which point the round or (ball) was simply measured in its weight. 2 pounder, 5 pounder, etc. |
