Great job but bye

Great job on the mod,the sounds/skins/maps/everything is realy well done but this will be my last post. This one shot one kill is just no fun.flame me all you want but I dont see any fun in dieing every 2 sec.I shoot a guy in the foot and he dies.Spawn camping takes on a whole new light, and dont flame me because you think I suck at it I came in the top 3 almost every map.Wish you all the best with the mod you did a great job with it if the guns get tone down ill be this first one back.I hope you fair better than xww2.

KANADA, I recall your name from way back when I used to play reg BF and I know you're a good player. So I won't doubt your skills, but on the otherhand, what did you expect from FH? I'm sure somewhere around here it states that FH is trying for realistic gameplay. Which equals one shot one kills (usually). In combat even a bullet to the foot would render a soldier incapable of further movement and would make him combat ineffective.

Both FH and XWWII follow this principle, so you shouldn't have been too suprised.

Master Minder September 27th, 2003 12:00 AM

if a guy died becourse you shot him into his foot, he probably had allready about 80hp less

Re: Great job but bye

Why did you download FH if you want a arcade? Just go to play Serious Sam or games like that.

I just dont think players on a whole will keep comeing back to this mod the way it is,and its a shame it has the makeings for the best exp for battlefield yet.Make the guns like EOD or DC I think they will have a hit on there hands the way it is now players will try it but wont stay.I play BF or DC and EOD every day but they are all fun,Fun is what made BF such a big hit.I hope Im wrong about FH because it looks and sounds great just a little to real for me,and no I dont like quake I used to play MH, before that it was Srikeforce for UT and before that Action halflife.

or try beign hit by a k98 in your arm and then still stand up....

Lobo September 27th, 2003 01:15 AM

Nobody discusses that a rifle shoot can kill you in real life, but the point of KANADA is respectable, he simply says that he find more fun to play with less realism.

CptChaos September 27th, 2003 01:23 AM

Bye-bye KANADA.....

OoOO 7% done!

Re: Great job but bye

Well, i hated when you shoot someone and hit, he turns around and is returning fire and kill you.....since they didn'd wear kevlar in those days......rediculous !

That spoils my fun more then realistic damage, so i am very happy with FH mod if this is true.......still at 75 % download though :uhm:

Gnarg! September 27th, 2003 01:48 AM

I once ran up behind a dude with 7 BAR bullets in the magazine, shot em all hit and he bled, he just turns around and kills me, yay like ¤%#"

I Havent Played this mod yet but. I belive it will sortout the more mature players from the kid's who just play for kicks.

The 1 Shot, 1 Kill is a good theory, it willl encourage team play. and tactics whish is rare to see on public BF Servers.

For Starts dont expect to take a outpost on your own anymore... you need to formulate a plan to take an outpost.

Covering Fire. Supressing Fire Tactics should also work. it will release the tactical side to BF which is more needed to play.

The Majority of players will opt for mod's such as DC or Eod,
but the players who are in it for a good game with decent people and want to see more strategic play in BF will nodoubt stick with this mod.

I have been on maps in DC for example Weapons Bunkers, the objective is to blowup the bunkers it's like 20 vs 20, and there were 10 Snipers, on my team and i setup a mortar and said i was ready to let losoe on enemy and not one of the snipers or indeed anyone else called for arty. for starts 10 snipers on that map is pretty pointless anyway since you need to blow up bunkers, what are the snipers going to do..ping bullets off them hoping they go bang!

I mean, on DC BAshras Edge Map, you can have a whole team base raping a enemy base then 1 guy can change the whole tide of the battle because he manages to sneak past and get to the farthest most flag and everyone suddenly spawns there and grabs all the posts back and they start base raping and so it goes on.

This is the kind of players i am hoping FH Leaves behind.

And i cant wait to try the mod.

only another 27 hours to go!

Gnarg! September 27th, 2003 02:34 AM

I wont need a plan if i have a k!ck-@ss aim and a good ol rifle, plus often the enemy is advancing leaving the outpost alone so it will only be 1-2 guards to deal with, omgh f33l m3h l337 p0w4hs! :p meh j/k :D

I think, fh has a great community, and is gonna hve a even better comunity in the future. I think there will be no noobs or lamers or even rambos playing FH, because its a team and realism mod :)

Gnarg! September 27th, 2003 03:14 AM

Rambos N Realism doesent really mix :)

Re: Great job but bye

you can't do teamplay when no one plays the game...plus few ever listens to radiocommands, or chat messages...everone just wants to get the point, no one wants to stay back and cover somebody...if FH is as described, I predict a similar fate to XWWII - no servers, no players.

ArminAce September 27th, 2003 05:35 AM

Re: Re: Great job but bye

right now there are a bunch of servers + players....we will see what the future brings....

Re: Great job but bye

Well i, personally like this OSK (one shot kill) system a lot, (4 years of rainbow six did it's job:P) and I dont think that EVERY1 liked doom style bf1942 more than that.. btw FH predends to be a realism mod as well

Re: Great job but bye

1 shot 1 kill works great. Just wait and see, I've been playing for a few hours and it's stunning.

Absolutely perfect.

DeathwingPanzer September 27th, 2003 06:44 AM

I have played Fh and i love it, esspecially the realism (one shot kill). The only problem I have is that my graphics card (9600 pro) has been freaking out (just installed it thursday). :(

Are u SEVERLY reatarded? Or myabe just far right wing. It had been ONE day, acctually, not even one day since its release. Please explain how you can judge the mod after that space of time. I think the FH mod is great a its an alternative and its fun too with great vechiles, planes and ships etc. And i also want to make the point that it is its 1st release! This version hasnt even been updated with all the stuff that was planned for this release (unfornunately some of it didnt come) and we will get more additions too! And hey...its free.

Blehh September 27th, 2003 07:51 AM

Re: Great job but bye

1 shot 1 kill makes it more like real war. You don't just charge an MG42 position with an Enfield. It promots tactical strategy. I like the realism.

But as Coolguy said, it's your opinion and that's fine with me. Some people like realism, others like arcade.

ww2freak September 27th, 2003 07:54 AM

Re: Great job but bye

I disagree too. I think that finally you have that adrenaline rush, cause you have to be on guard every time, not to die. I fannaly get the Medal of Honour danger feeling + great maps and vehicles.

Aleluia!!!!

Gnarg! September 27th, 2003 07:57 AM

As evry1 seems to be here and the other threads are dead... I have a problem, the game freezes flashes, and then continues as normal in 10 minutes, then the same thing happens, repat repat, i really need some help :(

Muddy S September 27th, 2003 08:49 AM

Re: Great job but bye

I am completly for the current damage system but one thing really lets it down.
I think the current control system of BF restricts the use of effective cover, which results in getting killed alot when you acctually think your concealed. For example when lying prone and you crawl over a edge you are actually alot further over the edge than how far you think you are if you get what I am saying. It seems when lying prone the camera is in your belly!

Call of duty is a good example of what it should be like where you can lean round corners to shoot, im not sure if you would be able to impliment this but if you could it would make the game a whole lot better. :)

Another problem is that you know in Exp WW2 the tanks shells fire like bullets, and in it tank battles last 3 seconds if your lucky, you could implement a fire delay from clicking, hearing, click- "FIRE"- Boom. just an idea ;)

Re: Great job but bye

Id much rather have instakill infantry fighting and decent vehicles fighting than like dc... where the infantry fighting takes a few shots, but each vehicles just gets blown up instantly....

Beast of War September 27th, 2003 09:06 AM

Re: Re: Great job but bye

:D I played FH for several hour too and the rifle damage system is great ! I hope they never really change that. Those who don't want to kill with 1 aimed shot can always use submachineguns, i noticed they are less powerfull as they should be since they fire pistol ammo.

Archangel85 September 27th, 2003 09:48 AM

Re: Great job but bye

okay, i played it, and the aiming/damage system is way better than in XWWII...but it lags a little bit on atlantic or in bocage when you fire your machineguns in a plane...

[OBCT]Glutton September 27th, 2003 10:08 AM

Who needs snipers when you can just use the rifle as a sniper rifle...I mean they are the same rifle one of them just has a scope. Last night I was sniping people consistently from a distance of at least 200 meters.

God I love one shot one kill :bows:

SnuffMan September 27th, 2003 12:21 PM

I'm still downloading it...(Found a fast mirror and its about an hour long DL)

I am for the one shot one kill scenario..
But are the names that float over players gone?

I mean I can be hiding somewhere and my cover is blown cause of someone scanning over the landscape and seeing my name above my head.
In some maps you can see the nametags thru objects like walls and rocks.

If they are their is there anyway that they can be disabled?
It would make for better realism which from reading, thats what this mod is aiming for.

Snuff......

Archangel85 September 27th, 2003 12:23 PM

Re: Great job but bye

the nametag is a serveroption, not a mod ability...

SnuffMan September 27th, 2003 12:30 PM

Ohh so the chance will be (very) slim it will be disabled.
I knew it was a server option but thought maybe it could aslo be controlled thru the game itself.

Ohh well.........:uhoh:

Archangel85 September 27th, 2003 01:49 PM

Re: Great job but bye

it isn't disabled by the mod, however, a lot of servers have set their nametagdistance to a value were you can already distinguish the uniforms...
