SP map packs available

Just wondering what FH2 sp mappacks are available, i know there are some out. there

Re: SP map packs available

nope.. the only official map-pack that has been released so far is from WaW and it doesnt have any singleplayer mode.

A few community members are adding their own SP mode to official fh2 maps though, try to look around for those..

Hopefully more maps will get SP but at the moment its not a priority, its better that a mapper creates a new level, than adding SP to an old.

Unless FH2 manages to get a guy who will only do SP to existing maps... - just apply as that position would be welcomed with open arms! :D

SP mode of Tunis map is done 2 days ago by ThomasLX and me......
We're working on the SP of Fall of Tobruk, and both will be available to download on Sunday. Other non-sp maps are on the way too...just waiting..:D

BAD NEWS
There's something wrong with Fall of Tobruk....BF2Editor crashed at 'Generate Path Finding'. It seems impossible to create SP of this map......

I will try another one.

of course i think the bots are too stupid for me. At least i like chatting.

Re: SP map packs available

ok well its nice that you add singleplayer to the maps, but... two days is not how you create a singleplayer gamemode to a game like battlefield2.... sure youcan throw in bots, but.. it takes a hell of a long time to configure it nicely.

Please submit your files and let people test it, supply you with bugs etc, but trust me it will take longer than that to make it play good.

Hope you don't throw in the towel when the problems arise, FH2 needs Singleplayer-personel, but it needs to be perfected AI.

It's good that it's initially available in any guise - gives people (like me who haven't played online for ages) a chance to at least try out the new stuff.
Used to love Omaha in FH1 as axis with loads of allies swarming up the beach :)

There is no SP mappacks but a custom map http://forums.filefront.com/fh-mapping/360404-sky-valley-1-0-a.html made by Schism has SP support and is a good and fun map to play. But I don't know if it still works correctly in 2.15.

sorry guys, i can't upload the map what i did so far before weekend.....the reason is that i don't have enough time on my modding pc because i'm still a student and have to do so many works except modding....and sometime gf doesn't allow me to do that... now i'm using mobile phone to post...

my friend thomaslx and i have tested it for hours, some bugs were found out and fixed. i suggest it's a case for 2 guys to find out bugs in a small simple infantry-only map. so don't worry.

It shows up on the SP menu. I haven't tried to play it since 2.15, but if the FH pre-2.15 SP maps play (and the ones I've tried do), there should be no prob with SV.

Any additional working SP/Coop map besides the vanilla FH2 ones is more than welcome, so take your time to make them run ok. Thanks in advance. :)

New maps will crash because there are vehicles and weapons in those levels that don't have proper AI coding I assume.

Someone should also enhance SP a bit - I used to be the talk of the town with FH42 cuz it was so cool, but COOP in FH2 is so slow cuz bots don't use arty, bots don't use MGs in bunkers often or entrench - And the AI commander is as dumb as a rock... throws the team strategy out of whack every time we are so close to capping the last base... Someone do something about that, I'd give em my sister!!

I bet bizness already had some improvements for this kind of issues already but they just did not make it into FH2 2.15 for the known reason.

I still got hope for an official hotfix.

That's what I thought either.
I can understand ppl that'd like to see more multiplayer, but it is understandable that the team can't deploy more than one guy to SP development, as the overall progress on the mod development is by far more important atm.

Well, it's very different. In 0.7 they don't stay hidden as humans do; they're going to give you plenty of opportunities to shoot - and yes it can get very arcadey, with the player getting 150+ kills, 10+ tank kills and outrageous stuff like that.

Their shooting skills can be amazing. Sometimes they will miss their first shots, but a lot of the time they can shoot a flea at 400 yards: you just cannot show yourself to them for long. If you expose yourself and stand still for more than a couple of seconds you're dead. Although they don't seem to use sniper kits, they can hit you from 400 yards away or more. Thinking of setting up an mg? Better be well placed, because usually a gunner is immediately killed.

They're also incredibly fast from seeing you to shooting you. A human simply can't go prone, let the sight picture shrink and get off a killing shot before the bots do, and most to the time in a "draw" contest, you're going to die. There's also that thing where even after you think you've dropped out of fire behind sandbags or other cover you still somehow get killed an instant later. They usually do an excellent job with artillery. Foy for example is sometimes impossible to move in if you've left an observer alive looking at you, because the 88s are dropping all the time, sometimes at a rate of 10-15 shells a minute - and they're chasing you. You get pretty good mass attacks, with as many as 20 bots coming at you across a field.

Bot armor is deadly, although they usually expose a flank to you at some point - if you can stay alive long enough to hit it.

Re: SP map packs available

I'm all for the expansion of AI and SP playing opportunities (IMO there are far more SPers than make themselves known). But I am quite leery of any effort that is not made in full cooperation and coordination with the FH devs. So that's a first reason to make me reluctant to toss in with any wildcat operation.

Second, I remember your first foray here, and IIRC you got banned in record time, although, if I ever knew, I don't remember why). Perhaps that was because of subterfuge in how you got an account or perhaps it was some other dispute with the mods or devs that has nothing to do with your behavior online. But I gotta tell you I don't have a whole lot of warm-and-fuzzy about what it is you want.

Uh, just what is it you want?

Well, we do have Sidi Reseigh, Tunis and Gerabub in SP already - I've played them - It seems very plausible that they do infact have an SP mod out there and aren't blowing smoke up our... One week, right - Let's wait and see

Re: SP map packs available

Hah I tried Sidi yesterday and the bots didn't move their legs but hovered around in odd stances. It was quite comical actually to see them bugger around like that. Other than that little "issue" it works quite well. Although I encountered that damned flag bug (flag shows our flag but is still greyd out and can never be captured) which ruined my first round because the bots swarmed around that spawn trying to cap it.

Its quite fun when you set your bot amount to 107. In Tunis and other urban maps this is way too much though in my opinion but in Sidi and other bigger maps it works great.

No... But we do meet regularly at family dinners

@ Jumjum
Gerabub is somewhere in another thread - Can't recall which. You might be dissapointed though - The public release has only 16players in a 64 map for SP only - No COOP (CTDs). Hopefully, it will be out on Boxing day, corrected and all. But it does show promise. Bots use Italian MGs, but call arty on me even when I climb stairs leading up to the lookouts on the wall. And they usually do that only when you are at an inaccesible location.

And the modders were kind enough to leave the rappel in - And its somehow AI-coded (Bots wont use it, or I doubt they would, but I can and that's good enough for me)

I recall the leg thing... It happens sometimes I wonder why... Weird as hell

I was unsuccessful getting more than a ctd out of Tunis. That's not a good start. As much as I want SP content, I abandoned this pack until such time as bugs may be gone.

There isn't a "pack" as such, only the few maps posted within this forum.

Yes, they have to work, don't they ! I find I play games to relax, not some hair pulling exercise . Beta's are necessary but have to be clearly marked as such.

I have Siege of Tobruk Night by aj51 working. I'll checkout his other maps as well as the one's by ThomasLX, a Chinese (?) mapper. At least, they are on bf2mod.cn. .cn = China. All here. Confirming reports of playability will be appreciated.

Hi DJBarney.

Glad you still appreciate the Siege of Tobruk Night Map :) I know I do. It could use a little tweaking when I ever get the chance. Actually I have a few ideas for most maps but it's the TIME, gentlemen, the TIME... *sigh*

I've re-played all my existing fan maps and they basically still work ok under 2.15 - at least, that's MY experience - except for the voice commands which don't seem to work at all ;). I can't say I'm in love with the "new" control rose / orders function selection screen either. Is there some way I can call bots for ammo? There is now a large amount of mouse scrolling needed to make a selection which I don't much like at all. Oh well. Win some, lose some!

Feel free to include any or all of my maps into a singular "Map Pack" if you wish.

BTW thanks a bunch to those who got SP navmeshed and working for Sidi Rezegh and Giarabub. It was terrible news about the FH2 SP dev's hard drive failure - hope it won't take years to get it back to scratch! In the meantime, well done the other lads who have helped keep the SP community ticking over. Purple hearts all round!

Chiz for now,

sidi_rezegh ... runs OK :bawl: ! Enough to make grown man cry :bawl:.

It does not respond to being put in a renamed directory though (like sidi_rezegh_sp). Does not appear in any menu's. This is essential to rule out any interference with MP. I seem to remember having this problem before and trying to change all references to the install directory, but I got into a muddle. Anyone know how to do this ?

The only way I know for sure to make a stand alone map work with whatever name you want to call it is to use Source Edit and rename everything that has a file reference that points to the old name(s). Painstaking at first until you get the hang of it - and not entirely without frustration - especially if you happen to make one character error somewhere :bawl:. My own fan map efforts stand as a testament to that problem! Can take a while to track the lil' faulty keystroke buggers down!
