Immersive Mode

Hey, sorry if this has been answered before but I searched and I couldn't find anything on how to get this thing to work exactly. I tried what it said to do on the homepage but im not a real wiz with computers so idk, it just hasn't worked for me. If someone could tell me how to make this work it would be much appreciated, as I would love to try it out.

Re: Immersive Mode

go to your FH folder ( Example C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2 )

Right click, hover the mouse over "New", so that a new submenu appears to the right. There select "Text Document".
Now you can type in a name for the file. Instead of having it "New Text Document" type in "immersive-hud"
Press Enter

If you get a pop-up message saying that the file will be unstable.. add a ".txt" after the word "hud" in the name, so it would spell out "immersive-hud.txt"
if you don't get a pop-up message saying that, you don't need to add it!

Now start FH2, and enjoy a clean new look of the hud :P

Re: Immersive Mode

Talked with Purity about adding a function to the toolbox to toggle enable/disable Immersive Mode from easy check-box. So a common player doesnt have to wiggle with (altho simple) .txt files. :)

Re: Immersive Mode

Thanks for the help FatJoe, but I have one problem, whenever I right-click it will only allow me to make a new folder, not a new txt file. Idk whats wrong. Does the fact that I have vista have something to do with it?

Re: Immersive Mode

Do you have notepad?, then just create a blank document and call it: immersive-hud

Place it where they said and bingo

Emm...what the heck is Immersive-mode?

Re: Immersive Mode

it's nice and all, but I wish that the immersive mode would make the chat-text smaller, as well as shrinking or removing the kill messages completely

Can someone post a screen shot of what it looks like? is it just things missing from the HUD?

Good point, nothing more annoying than having the screen cluttered with bloody text, and its right in the middle of the screen normally.

Haven't seen Project Reality yet because of my underpowered rig but I'd be interested to see what they have done with that.

Re: Immersive Mode

Is anybody know a code to write into the immersive-hud.txt that I can use the new hudstyle and crosshair for the standard carabine ?
Because I like the new hud, but also I miss the crosshair.

Thnx in advance ...

Re: Immersive Mode

I fear you would have to mod the files that control the hud's look themselves, not the immersive-hud.txt.
But I guess you will not be able to play online anymore if you do it.

Cheers,

Re: Immersive Mode

Is there anyway to get rid of kill messages?

Forgotten_Reality December 18th, 2008 12:57 PM

Re: Immersive Mode

Yes, but that will probably keep you from playing FH2 online too.

I can't check now because I'm not at my own computer, but I think they may be removed in the localisation files.

When you get close to a flag you can still see the cap bar otherwise only the text is showing

Re: Immersive Mode

the "cap bar" is there for a reason so you see you are inside the capzone and if you cap at all
