That's actually what I thought too, especially the helmets.

Thats because they are taken from the localized German version of vanilla BF2, that's where the modern slang and terms are from. They did not use english words on the radios or commands/answers in WW2.

Great job, devs
What interview ?

...

That BAR looks like the most realistic BAR I've ever seen. Not that I've got any closer to one than all the other historic WW2 games.

This interview:

Forgotten Hope 2 Mod for Battlefield 2 Forgotten Hope 2 Interview feature - Mod DB

It was part of the previous update. Well I'd rather not explain it and just rather let you read it. Anyway it is 2 weeks old, if I remember correct.

So anyone want to tell me how that "floating" field equipment on the Italian light uniform (gray) worked? Did the trousers have like an area where they could clip stuff on or is he in fact wearing a belt that's in the same shade of color as the trousers?

There is an Italian localized version of BF2 (in the same DVD as the english version, btw, it's a multilanguage installer) but unlike the French and German versions it has no dubbing, only the text is translated. You can choose to have voice commands in "original language" (i.e., arab, english or chinese) or "always english" in the sound options (french and german versions can choose between "original language" and "always french/german").

I'm not sure, but I suppose they had a belt. Most of the photos I could find with a quick google search are of soldiers with the jacket on, so the trouser belt (if any) doesn't show. I found a few showing a belt, but they were of the standard ("continental") uniform model, not the colonial ("saharian") one used in FH2.
This is because the complete uniform comprised a jacket over the shirt, like in the "heavy" soldier model, and since most of the pics I found were taken in more or less formal situations the soldiers wear the full, proper uniform. Actually the outfits of the "heavy" and "light" are the same uniform, the light one just discarded the jacket and rolled up his shirt's sleeves, I suppose North Africa is rather hot

By the way, I found 2 possible problems:
- I realized only now that the jacket of the "heavy" uniform is an officer's model, I think it was issued from 2nd lieutenant up. Troop soldiers got a slightly different, lower-quality jacket. Some pics to show the difference: (note: these are repros, but they should be accurate enough, at least for a videogame's scope)
Spoiler:

Left: officers' colonial jacket; right: "standard" colonial jacket:
(and no, officers didn't have to be dwarves :P)

(pockets are different, also the officer's model had 4 bottons instead of 3 and could be fully opened)

- the standard ("continental") helmet (used by the SMG and LMG kits) was usually repainted khaki by the troops in Africa (just reskin it).

The uniform colors seem a bit dark, but that might be due to my monitor, and I'm judging from mainly black and white photos as well. And in any case as far as I know uniform colors actually varied, both intentionally (color adjustments during different production batches) and due to use of low-quality pigments which faded or changed colors. Also, makeshift or not completely standard uniforms were rather common (including re-used captured uniforms). So all in all I suppose the colors are ok

I find the headgear a bit weird, though, as it would indicate a mixed bersaglieri/line infantry force in every map. And as far as I know the bersaglieri didn't use the long rifle as their standard weapon, but the cavalry carbine instead. /me wants cavalry carbine

In any case, great job jodonnel! I know I'm nitpicking in an overly annoying manner

Thanks Rattovolante! The Carcano cavalry carbine is so awesome. I hope it one day is added to FH2's arsenal, even if it's not particularly necessary.
