well i think it is somekind of hats at the rear end of the turret but i seems to small for an entrance/exit so i guess its something like you described(maybe they pee through that hole )

Wouldn't it be kinda awkward to pee through a hole in the back of a tank turret? I mean, even if you're standing in the commander's cupola you would need very steady aim...

dont you get it, you need to be held up there by all other crew members so that you can stick your wiener out of that hole. then its the tigers most vulnerable spot!
