| Hmmm, not to question Killi's Godlike animation skills, but idk if BF2 will let him code the carcano 91 and 91/38 properly... As seen in this link: (which is a great refrence for reloding and weapon specifiacations in WWII). Collecting and Shooting the Italian Mannlicher-Carcano 91/38 Rifle - OPERATIONS it says that after the 5th shot is fired and the bolt is worked so that the 6th round is chambered, only then does the empty clip fall out of the magazine... and im not sure but i don't know if BF2 will allow it so that after we fire the fifth shot, the clip falls out.... maybe killi will just have to work it so that the clip falls out during the reloding animation... either way I CAN'T WAIT to see Killi's animations for this!! Great job as always devs! EDIT: I also found this nice video where you can see the carcano firing and reloading at around 7:30... but most notably at 7:43 you can see the clip fall out after the fifth shot is fired and the 6th round is chambered. | I'm curious about how the Carcano will work in-game, it might have less bullet drop than most other rifles maybe? The original mod. 91 was claimed to be more accurate at long range than enemy rifles, due to longer barrel length (but that might have been propaganda) About the in-bloc clip ejection, the clip was simply kept in place by the bullets, as soon as you chambered the last bullet the clip fell through the bottom hole. Of course, you could also manually eject a full (or partially full) clip, so there won't be problems with the reload animations (like the no.4, which can apparently be loaded when 10 more bullets in a magazine already holding 9). I don't think BF2 will allow the "eject clip when 1 bullet left", though ![]() BTW, there are a lot of different Carcano versions, and some problems of naming them as well. For example the name "mod. 91/38" is used by some sources for the 7.35 mm rifles, and by other sources for previously 7.35 mm rifles rebarreled to 6.5 mm. In Italy the first usage is the most common, but that doesn't mean very much (any rifle in the carcano rifle family, regardless of the specific model, is usually called a "91" in Italy). Actually, it's apparently a "Fucile mod. 91/38" (aka "Fucile mod. 38", as above) - this is a rifle, not a carbine. The 7.35 mm carbine variants are different: Spoiler: Top one is a 91/38 rifle - note the last part of the barrel is exposed. Center one is a Moschetto T.S. 91/38 (or Moschetto T.S. 38, as above) - note it's marginally shorter and it is covered in wood until the end of the wood part (no idea of what the proper English name for it is... stock, maybe?) Bottom one is a 91/38 cavalry carbine with bayonet extended. The only problem of having the 91/38 rifle in the mod (as opposed to a carbine) is that it was not an engineer weapon... Engineers, artillerists and non-combat troops were issued the TS carbine models, while bersaglieri, alpine troops, cavalry and other combat troops that needed shorter weapons were issued the cavalry carbine models. So in theory FH2 now has two weapons for line infantry and no weapon for engineers... ![]() If you want to be annoyingly correct you could give engineers the Moschetto TS 91/24 carbine, it should be rather easy to model. It's one of the 6.5 mm TS variants, built in the 20s from surplus WWI rifles. As such, it uses the same (sawn-off) stock and (recalibrated) sights of the of the mod. 91 rifle (the other TS carbines had their own different stock and sights). PS: If you wonder why they built a carbine version which was only marginally shorter than the rifle: the 7.35 mm guns were for the most part built from existing 6.5 mm guns which had to be rebarreled anyway due to barrel wear (the 91/38 was more of an update than a brand new model). So existing carbines were re-barreled as carbines, while the rifles were re-built as (shorter) rifles. PPS: Why the breda mod. 30? I would have expected a mod. 37, as it would have been better gamewise as it was somewhat better than the 30 (considering BF2 can't emulate jams or misfires anyway). Do you plan to use the mod. 37 as static MGs? I hoped to see the FIAT-Revelli as static MGs... Last edited by rattovolante; July 4th, 2008 at 05:02 AM.. |
