In any information database of such size you'll find inaccuracies. You want inaccuracies and badly researched material? Go to the library and find a book on drugs. You'll find just as much rubbish material in such a place. However, if the course those pupils were taking were based on a book, the best place is to look in that book, since some ways mentioned on the internet may be different, and unknown to the professor which means a fail. I've come by this situation many times myself. However I doubt the fact that the German handbook forbade firing more then 250 rounds in a burst is false.

ONe thing you fail to realize is that the german army was far, far, far from a handbook army, despite what one is led to by german and allied propaganda. The german army was known for its NOT following stuff by the book, one of the main reasons it adapted so well to conditions presented.

Size has nothing to do with it: the Encyclopedia Britannica is pristine compared to Wikipedia. The problem is the very concept of the wiki which, while enabling unprecedented freedom and access, permits a degree of inaccuracy and untrustworthiness never approached in traditionally edited reference works.

More than the inaccuracies, it is the biased and slanted nature of many entries, particularly those concerning political issues or current events, and to a lesser extent historical events, which make Wikipedia completely unreliable as a source unless corroborated by some other trustworthy reference.

Wikipedia is great for a quick dip - but trust it as a sole source at your risk.
