Actually, jumping out is one of the worst things you can do in a tank fight.

For one, your tank stays in one place, making it a sitting duck. Secondly, once you hop in you need to reload a round into the gun, so your enemy will easily have fire superiority over you.

Lastly, I kind of consider it like planes. Bailing just to avoid being killed is a little dishonorable. Die with your tank and get back out there in another death box faster.
