Regarding Certain Weapons Hey, guys, I just have a few questions for developers and betatesters, but if you feel you can help, please throw in your two cents. I'm currently involved in WAW(World at War (WaW) Homepage - Simply the Best Forgotten Hope Tournament!) and would like to ask some questions regarding certain weapons, primarily Close-Quarters Combat weapons. I would just like to ask some questions regarding the features and functioning of some weapons. This will hopefully benefit the WaW community and myself, along with anyone looking at this thread. I will also be doing self testing, but I figured you guys would be a big help. 1. In game, at what range (in meters) does the bullet begin to drop for the: a.Thompson 1928? b. Beretta SMG? C. Webley? D. Walther P38? E. Luger? What is the Fragmentation/explosion radias (in meters) for the: a. S-mine? b. British Grenade? c. German Grenade? d. Grenade launcher? Again I don't expect this to be answered and anyone who feels they can assist or just wants to spam can. Any help will contribute to WaW. Thanks a bunch, everyone. |
Re: Regarding Certain Weapons A-E The bullet drop wouldn't matter Because by the time the bullet begins to drop, your hopelessly out of range for said gun. Seriously I don't know and it really wouldn't matter if you had the data or not Frag A-D According to the U.S. Field Instruction manual "the Blast Radius of an Hand Grenade is always one foot greater than your jumping range" S-mine, it will kill anybody in about 1' radius all around Grenade launcher, it's pretty hard to kill someone with anything but a direct hit or a very near miss hope this helped TLUS |
Re: Regarding Certain Weapons The bullet begins to drop the instant it leaves the barrel of your weapon. Quote:
The gravity simulated by the BF2 engine behaves in a realistic manner. Every second, an object in the air gains negative vertical speed of roughly 10 metres per second (meaning that after 2 seconds, the speed will be 20). Since the BF2 engine doesn't support air resistance that would considerably slow the bullets in reality, the gravity in FH2 is twice as high for bullets to achieve a realistic bullet drop at long ranges. Knowing these facts, it is easy to come to the conclusion, that the range of a weapon isn't determined by cone of fire or magnification of the sights, but merely by the shooter's ability to compensate the bullet drop. On Sfakia I made the experience that the MP40 is still nearly equal in firepower to a rifle at medium range. |
Re: Regarding Certain Weapons rifle grenades are different the british one fires a small HEAT round that has quiet some blast radius, but can also damage amored vehicles (2 hits can kill a panzerII), i would say the killzone has a diameter of 3-4 meters the german rifle grenade is a "simple" HE round that has a similar blast radius to the british one the hand grenades are also very different the british millsbomb has a huge killzone due to the shrapnel effect and you can often hurt/kill yourself with it when you are not careful the millsbomb is considered a "defensive" grenade while the german grenade has no shrapnel effect and a smaller kill radius the shellshok effect allows the attacker to throw the grenade and rush in right after the blast they are considered offensive grenades cant say much about the killzonediameter for the hand grenades but the british one is much bigger than the german one |
Re: Regarding Certain Weapons Yeah, I fired one of those HEAT rounds at the side armour of a Panzer III (fruitless situation) and got a kill damage assist. I'm sure it must have done some damage. |
Re: Regarding Certain Weapons you wont do much damage with those on real tanks but if they are damaged allready one of those little buggers can deliver the killing blow the rear of the panzer IV is very vulnerable i m not sure how many of these it takes but i m sure you could kill it with those rifle grenades, but watch out they tend to ricochet and if you are unlucky they come right back :( |
Re: Regarding Certain Weapons I did not know that it was an HEAT round! That will be very useful for city maps with tanks... :) |

Re: Regarding Certain Weapons They have a smaller kill radius then hand grenades, but its still nothing to scoff at. |
Re: Regarding Certain Weapons All the numbers you'll need to know are located within the FH2 .con files. These are opened by notepad and located inside the .zip files of the folder battlefield 2/mods/fh2. The BF code and such are pretty simple, I'll let someone else help you or you can figure it out on your own because I'm a lazy bastard :P |
Re: Regarding Certain Weapons The Thompson is really very accurate when you fire in one-two shot bursts. It is quite the awesome weapon in FH2. |
