I hate to keep ruining everyones parade... but...

MICROSOFT finally saw sense and decided to drop Windows Graphic Foundation (WGF) and replace it with the more easier and logical DirectX 10 name for its nexgen API.

It gave some details to the developers officially about its upcoming API and we know that it plans to release this API together with Longhorn. Or Visa, as we must learn to call it. The DirectX 10 API will have completely new and faster dynamic link libraries (DLLs) and is supposed to run much faster.

*** Pay attention to the following***

The company decided to cut the backward compatibility with DirectX 9, 8, 7 and lower in this API but there will be a way to use games programmed for those APIs. Microsoft will enable support for DX 9 or lower games through a software layer, meaning it might run slower.

Meaning, DX10 is not natively backwards compatable with DX9, the protocol used by BF2 and consequently FH2. Yeah, im sure BF3 will be DX10. So if we were all using a forum dedicated to a game that uses DX10 I think it would be a great idea to wait for that card.
In fact, maybe it would be a great idea to wait until DX10 cards come out because then the DX9 cards will drop in price. But if you do buy a DX10 card your FH2 performance will suffer as you will have to use another layer of software to translate DX9 signal to a DX10 card.

IOW good luck with that!

Although I agree with you on not buying DirectX 10 card the minute they're available. I think that the performance suffering will be marginal. Don't forget they keep cranking the speed, pipelines, memory, etc. up for videocards.

Wait till the second generation DX 10 Vid cards, cos the first one will have a few bugs for sure.

Or beter yet if you can play FH2 with high settings, don't even bother to buy a DX10 card. Cos they will be only a few games availabe that require DX10.
