Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) I'm sure Devs know their stuff, and they know what battles to do, but I was just searching around on Wikipedia and found this timeline. It's pretty cool because it just shows how many battles could be made that were never introduced in FH1! You can also see a few places that have been captured and recaptured during the war. So maybe there could be like, ex.: Tobruk 1941, 1942, etc.. And with different years, maybe the map will have more blown up stuff/damage/destruction on it. Just a thought... Also, it looks like Italians played a major role in Africa maybe even more than Germans! HERE IS THE LINK |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) This has been discussed already lots of times. It's been done in DC, probably a few other mods, and in some ways is done in FH already, example, El Alamein & Supercharge, iirc it's almost representative of 2 different battles during xx time period for a certain operation. |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) Oh! I never knew that Supercharge and El Alamein were related. Oh well. The main idea is the Wiki site though :p |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) My memory is foggy on the issue so don't quote me. We're treading on sensitive ground around here at times regarding specific facts. :D |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) Hmm, wish it made a bigger deal of Operation Compass. Cracka, you say that the italians perhaps played a bigger part in Africa ... I really wouldn't like to agree there. Operation Compass for example, the Brits were outnumbered, yet still managed to get all the way to El Agheila and capture around 160,000 Italian prisoners I beleive (at a loss of less than 2000 men for the british). It was probably the most succesful operation by the British of the entire war. The Africa campaign really didn't get going until Rommel arrived in my opinion (or at least, it started looking bad for the British when Rommel launched his first offensive). |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) You are forgetting the East Afircan campaign. |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) I am sure Italian will be involved in the first release... I can remember a developer mentioned in a thread something about ingame weapon, and told in a wanton mood :D , that in FH2 were just two ingame shots of a weapon... 1. MP 40 2. and an italian weapon near a Flak ( I dont remember).... :giggle: so you nearly can be sure that something with italian army will be in the first release, I think that will be fun  |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) As far as I know, only the British and Germans will feature in the first version - at least that's what most devs are saying, as it would seriously delay the first version by featuring yet another army. What does the MP-40 have to do with the Italians? |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) I don't know about that but there is certainly an Italian L70 (?) assault gun in one of the screenies. It could be just that the Germans are using them, like we have on El Alamein in FH1. |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) Well maybe the germans will have some italian equipment at their disposal in the first release though it would only include the brits and the germans. That would be feasible. |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) We are making the British and Germans for the first release. This is not because the other countries that took part were necessarily less important, or that we could not (hypothetically) do a bit more than just British and Germans, it just means that British and German forces are our first goal. |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) If you look through these animated maps here you will find a good one of north Africa, this campaign sure was one hell of a seesaw. http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/war/wwt...ign_maps.shtml |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) do repeat my answer  a developer told there are already ingame features for italian weapons in FH2 which arent shown yet.... if they are in the release or not I cant proof ;) and what I mean was there where 2 ingame weapons until yet.... the MP40 and an italian weapon ;) |

Wait and see, they're just tricking us. The first release will have the Italians, who the devs will announce at the last minute in order to surprise us all. I'm on to your little scheme... :D Oh, an interesting battle that I would like: the Leclerc column against the Italians at Koufra :D |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) Sure we could put the Italians in the first release for FH2, but it will take a few months more. And, well, I think I can speak for everyone, that the sooner FH2 is released, the better. So, don't expect to see Italians in the first release, because you'll just be disappointed. We will definatly add Italians later, because they did play a very large part in the war in North Africa. Quote:

And about the wiki timeline, it's pretty bad. It's missing some very important battles, Operation Battleaxe for instance, and it's also very general, it could use some detail. |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) Actually I wouldn't mind waiting a couple of months for the Italians. |

Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) No I am serious. I mean really, who here would not mind to wait a couple of months for the Italians? |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) Everybody..[would not want to wait] I rather play FH2 and wait for future releases, instead of NOT playing FH2 and waiting for another army to be made. |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) Ya, but then you don't have to wait longer for a new army. |

Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) I'd like to see the Italians in FH2's first release...wouldn't mind the extra wait. Though we'd need the 20mm Solothurn AT rifle, and the Breda lmg!:D |
Re: Wiki North African Campaign Timeline :) Everyone would like to see them, and the aussies :p (I should be shot for saying that) Anyway I for one would perfer to wait for conformation of Italian weapons before jumping happily into the air. I also didn't like that link, was too vague, can we have someone to fix it? I don't know how :( |
