Also thanks for all the advice everyone. |
Re: New maps memory leaks. Hmm, it appears it was an overheat issue. I jerry rigged an little cooling solution and the choppy framerate stopped about a minute later.:D Guess I don't have to pump more crud into this thing yet afterall. |
Re: New maps memory leaks. Jetro, I have some of the same in-game slowdown, which manifests itself when 12-20 soldiers/vehicles appear on the same screen, but I always attributed it card inadequacy (1G RAM, but running an inadequate GeForce FX 5200), not overheating. Anyway, I saw Gen'l Knight's swapfile suggestion, and I made a modest increase from 1234mb to the max of 2000mb. I'll see if that helps in my situation. |

Re: New maps memory leaks. Well its only happened when I looked at dense foliage. Tons of soldiers + vehicles has never realy had that effect on my rig. My comp is a laptop, however(I don't know if that's a gaming sin or not). And the fan for it is located on the bottom. I'm assuming the thing was being pushed but wasn't getting adequate cooling since the problem itself seemed to correct itself after my little quick fix. Fall Gelb has also given me the issue and the same fix knocked my framerate back up to pretty darn smooth. But increasing my swapfile might be a good idea. I'll give that a go as well. |
Re: New maps memory leaks. It was quite obviously graphics card overheating problem and nothing else. It always results in described problem. To get memory leaks something bad has to be in the engine, map itself is not that advanced. |
