I used a tool in Norton System Works 2003 that forcefully removes the files from your computer. Basically, the games leave files on your PC in Program Files and Windows, every time you try to install/uninstall the installer recognises the left over files, and you get the error.

Norton System Works does this by finding the directory belonging to the game and compeletely wipes it off your HD. As to why manually doing this doesnt work and Norton does, I dont know.

You can probably get a trial copy of NSW 2005 now off their website. Mess about with some of the tools in the program until you find the one that does the job and you should have no problems from there.

Sorry I cant recall the exact tool, it's been a loooooong time since I had to use Norton to remove files from my PC.

can you send me a link pretty please?

Re: need some help once again

The registry is like a big book of keys and values that windows stores, about 30-50MB in size. Lots of programs use this book to record all sorts of stuff, records of the add/remove program list, what files extensions are associated with what programs, CD keys, and lots lots more.

Messing with the registry is rather dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.

Here is the MS help link for manually removing the add/remove programs listing: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314481

There is also a pretty and easy to use tool for editing the add/remove programs list here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/U...e-Master.shtml

There are other registry entries besides the add/remove programs listing, usually under HKEY_LocalMachine/Software/Company, game ect. Presumably a registry cleaner is a much safer thing to run after deleting the files and add/remove listing than manually going in and deleting stuff from the registry.

Registry:

1: Go to run.
2: Type "regedit" without the quotes.
3: Click Hkey_Local_Machine.
4: Click Software.
5: Click Ea Games.
6: Delete the folders that have the same name as the games you want to get rid of. Eg the folder for Battlefield Vietnam is probably Battlefield Vietnam.
7: Exit.

That should work I guess..
