Re: FH2 Teaser video ? The FH website (www.FHmod.org) should contain all promotion material such as newupdates, renders, screenshots and video material. If you can't find it in any of the sections there it most likely isn't there. Atleast it shouldn't be unless the webmaster has been sleeping. :p Just check it regulary, browse the archives etc. I doubt we will see a trailer soon. FH doesn't really like to show of Work In Progress (WIP) works. |
Re: FH2 Teaser video ? Also, don't assume that just because the model is done, it is in game. For all we know, no new weapons are in game, just tanks. |

I read suggestions like this after every update. I can't wait to play FH2 but this seems not a good idea. Even if you make one map, you will have to test it and improve it while you could be devoloping on a bigger update. Plus, how are you going to play without any playermodels? Are you going to be sattisfied if only half of the weapons have sounds? And even when you do. Most of the people don't read forums or updates and when they start playing a "demo mod" you will get tons of compaints about uncompleted stuff. I think the devs do a great job with there no WIP policy. |
Re: FH2 Teaser video ? Teaser demos usually fail. Just look at Frontline 18 (BF1918) for BF2. You would have to have everything ready on that one map. I mean everything - game mechanics, models, skins, spawning, commander mode, you name it. Even after that people would probably get bored of playing the same map over and over again. It's better to come out with a proper release with maybe 3 to 5 finished maps. |

Re: FH2 Teaser video ? teasers, demos and all that stuff usually are more negative than positive. The planes map done by BF1918 received lot of unfair critics by people and I remember in old times of BF42 moding, Galactic Conquest released the first version with just one map and people soon becomed bored and started to complain. FH1 0.5 was also slightly rushed and we lost lot of potential players due its bugs and not enough developed features. We are vets in the hard world of moding and know our stuff, your tricks to get something earlier are lovely but we are old foxes. You will test a teaser called FH2 0.1, and is worthy of the wait |
Re: FH2 Teaser video ? Needless to say, Lobo is quite right. I've burnt myself on this befor, and I got alot of negetive feedback. It doesn't matter if you tell people it's a work in progress or it's a Alpha/Beta. The Devs has been doing a great job with teasing us so far. We get a render or a screenshot, and always in the right setting. We don't see a half finished product in the background, we don't get a model without a texture. Everything is finished (or nearly so) or ingame allready. So I say keep that up and give us FH2 0.1 not sooner then when it's completly ready.. we can wait :) |
Re: FH2 Teaser video ? a demo release isnt a good idea IMO, Desert-Conflict had a small release of the CTF mod a few months back, and everyone thought it was the full release, now everyones complaining that theres no new content in the release and the get turned off to the whole mod. needless to say, people will see a download on the website and download it no matter what it it, than they will see its a small demo, but think its the full release and get all angry. Its just a bad idea |

*Rests his case* well.... if you put it that way *damn it didn't work* That's very wise indeed, and as I said; I'd rather see developers working on the product instead of wasting time on teasers, be they videos or demos... it just would be so damn sweet.... anyway, to further chew on the strategies of releasing Mods for BF2 - What are the chances of getting FH2 Ranked ? As of today it seems EA will never release Ranking-rights to servers running custom maps (or; the custom maps aren't ranked, any Ranked server might run as many stock maps as they want, but whenever a custom map comes up the ranking stops, am I right?)... Will they keep this narrow-minded and greedy policy even after all the big mods are released? I can not stand the idea of FH2 running into problems with people not wanting to play the mod just because all their heroic actions aren't recorded... or actually; maybe it will be a natural out-sourcing, so true dedicated fans of FH, WW2, BF42 etc will move over to FH2, disregarding the nonsense that is ranks/stats and just improve the quality of FH2 gaming.... who knows.... Possibly all internal-ranking systems could be cross-linked? Has anyone thought of this? You would have ServerSpy on every FH-server (or a similar application that can record server activities, make it part of the FH2 Dedicated server release) and they could later be inter-linked, so if you play on a dedicated FH2 server in germany, all stats are sent to all other FH2 servers that use this function ? This way you would create your own ranking system (FH2 Ranking) and servers that are part of this would do exactly as Ranked BF2 servers do today; display that they are "FH2 Ranked" or so? What do you think ? Or would you rather have FH2 players just not bothering about statistics and go back to what Battlefield is really about; Quality, Fun, Gaming? |
