of couse i kid! i kid I KID!!! hehe

I was stupid enough, despite several warnings, to get my self banned. First I was generally rude in a thread, which got me temp banned. Then I came back with another account just so I could post in vengeance against one of the moderators . And that upgraded my temp-ban to a permanent ban.

i read this stuff was pretty good for house to house fighting because it could stop a german 9mm from a mp40. maybe a assult squad could have it in fh2?

Probably very unlikely to happen in reality. Maybe on some specific maps?

They are "The Guys You Know You've Killed Because Of The 'Ping' Their Cast-Iron Shirts Make When You Drill Them", also known as, "The Guys Who Thought They Were Protected, The Idiots".

Default Re: Pictures???

Those are not AT guns; they are soviet soldiers with DP light machine guns.
The plates might be body armour, alright.

Maybe Taranov can enlight us?

"People downloaded CS after HL stopped being updated, people downloaded and paid for RO even though you could get it for free on UT2k4, people were still playing BF42, DC and FH in far higher numbers than BF:V. Its not when it is released, it is how good the game is." - Augustus, 25/10/06.

LOL! thanks for clearing that up. I was confuzzled for a little while because I thought those were Brens (because of the conical flashiders) but that post about the armor stopping MP40 rounds reminded me of reading about russian body armor on wikipedia a month ago. I was trying to get my head around why they would have brens if they were russians haha.

actually, now that I look at the pic more closely, the flashiders are rather long for a bren gun.

Taken from Wikipedia:

There were several models of body armor in the Red Army, called SN-38, SN-39, SN-40, SN-40A, and SN-42. The number denotes the design year. All were combat tested, but only the SN-42 (in Russian language "Stalynoi Nagrudnik" SN=steel vest or CH-42) was put in production. It consisted of two pressed steel plates that protected the front torso and groin. The plates were 2mm and weighed 3.5kg. This armor was supplied to SHISBr (assault engineers) and Tankodesantnikam (infantry that rode on tanks) of some tank brigades. Real combat experience showed that the MP-40 9mm bullet failed to penetrate at around 100-125m. It was very useful in dense, intense urban battles (Stalingrad) where the Germans used the MP-40 predominantly, but, because of its weight, was not practical for soldiers charging across an open field.

Bren:

I can see why you confuse them, but the Bren has got the forepiece of the ironsight much more forward then the DP.

My guess, and that's all it is, would be a bomb disposal squad. They usually did have body armour. Though they rarely carried rifles.

The only other thing I can think of is they are artillerymen for a very big gun. Same problem though.
