Give me some time to get back into the things. There is lots of stuff to be done. 5 months were a long time... But I will try my very best ;)

Oh - and the reason I was n/a:
I finished university and had to move house. At my new location there was no DSL available and now finally after several weeks have passed by I have my connection back.

Welcome back Bugs.

Great statics. I like the exposed re-bar on the bunkers, very nice detail.

Um, exactly. Folks, let me put it simply, if you can run BF2 at medium-high settings ALREADY, then you should have NO problems running FH2. The devs are utilizing what the BF2 engine already allows, good graphics/eye candy.

I have a GeForce 6800 "vanilla" and run BF2 absolutely fine on Medium. A GeForce 6800GT should have no problems...

Not entirely true. Even though BF2 may run smooth with your computer now there still is a possibility that FH2 will require even more. Fh 0.7 requires much more computerpower than vanilla BF42 and I´m guessing this also will be the case with FH2.
FH2 can´t require any less computerpower than BF2, only more.

I could run medium-high well enough with 1 Gig of memory, but since I've only got 512 megs now, I can barely run it all.

When I added my 6800GT, it overloaded my power supply, whose death throes cooked one of my DIMMs.

Again, you folks are missing the point. The BF1942 engine was not made to handle the extra polies, high-quality textures, and sounds (the overall "atmosphere" that is Forgotten Hope). FH for BF42 is way beyond what the original game previously was.

If the devs pushed the BF2 engine beyond its own limits, that would be pointless to the extreme, because of what the engine allows already.

Suckyshot November 30th, 2005 02:29 PM

Re: Newsupdate 27th November

At this point, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of engine pushing, but that could change. The devs already have starting making some damn fine lighting and shadows that might hurt some people's performance, but those can be turned down under graphics settings. The only thing really I think that they should completely redo is the vegetation; even on wtih textures on high with 4x AA, it's blocky crap.
