Scope's Texture Set

Okay. Since this is the last release of FH for Battlefield 1942, I guess I'm going to be releasing all the custom textures that I have made for this wonderful mod!
I'm sure you guys may remember a thread long ago mentioning the textures I made, I got better since then:
http://forums.filefront.com/forgotten-hope-general-discussion/200995-custom-skins-lots-pics.html
(pics arent showing anymore)

*Okay to get to the point, I had made new textures to things in this mod that I thought looked bad. So reskined quite a few things SO FAR:
-No4
-K98
-G43
-Garand
-Springfield Sniper Rifle
-PPSH
-BAR
-German Grenade
-Mills Grenade
-Sandbags
-Boxes
-Winter M36 Jackson
-Winter US 101st
-Winter German Soldier
-BF109 Cockpit
-JU87 Cockpit
-Wildcat Cockpit

*More to come (more cockpits, weapons, etc.)

*I'm going to try to get in custom crosshairs and various other things
(NOTE:It wont effect FH in any way and I will get it to work with Mr. Cheese's Texture Pack. Most of these textures 'ex:cockpits and m36' were basically cutouts from other textures, so most credit goes the FH devs)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...es/kar98-1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ures/kar98.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...res/garand.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/garand-1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...creenShot0.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...reenShot26.png
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...reenShot10.png
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ckpitbf109.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...res/boxes1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...tures/ppsh.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...es/grenade.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ringfield1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...rmanwinter.jpg
*Like I said, most of the credit goes to the mod team, I got lazy at times with some of the textures so I felt like just cutting stuff I liked from other textures.

*This will be released hopefully by the end of November, I still need to get Flyguy45 to test it out and see if its all good.

*FYI, Almost all these textures are Work in Progress, I'm trying to replace all the cut out textures with brand new ones.

*This thread will have updates every now and then, so stay tuned ;)

Re: Scope's Texture Set

Ok Scope, me lad. As I have said before your skins do look very nice and I would love to include them. Are they historically accurate though? Also with your gun skins - you've done a great job on them but could you weather them - put some scratches etc in the wood?

Cheers :)

the weapons are also acurate
i will add some scrathes to the weapons as well

Re: Scope's Texture Set

They're very nice. One small thing, and I can't put my finger on it; something (the angle?) on the K98 and PPsH somehow doesn't look 100%.

Maybe it's just because I'm tired, maybe it's because the detail level on them is somehow "different" from the actual player models--I really dunno, it's just somehow "off" by a tiny little bit. Anyone?

If it's not the case, just ignore. Like I said, nice work.

i heard that people would cut a notch in there rifles when they killed someone in ww2! would you be able to do that?

Re: Scope's Texture Set

awesome, good work on all of them. to be honest though, i like FH's skins better on most of what yyou have shown EXCEPT the g43 skin, i love that, and i'm wondering, upon your release, if there is a way we could download individual skins.

Re: Scope's Texture Set

update! :)
quite a few new things now:
-US facelift
-Italian facelift
-STG facelift
-Thompson

First, here are better pics of the garand and k98

http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/7...randk988rg.jpg
Now we have the STG! I didnt redo it, just added a few more minor details (check the stock and the added springs)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...xtures/stg.jpg

Next, the Thompson! Almost completely redone, some parts are still part of the original.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/thompson.jpg
Last are the faces! (finally got rid of the ugly US face :D ) Redone, used photos actually to make them :p
http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/6...celifts7yt.jpg

I also changed the Italian faces, basically tanner versions of the US faces but with black hair
http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/6...celifts9rn.jpg

Thats it for now, more to come soon!

[21Pz]Stauffenberg November 13th, 2005 01:56 AM

Re: Scope's Texture Set

Can you also reskin the stupid looking german offizier/tanker cap?
The thing below the swastika holding eagle is way to big.

Mr_Cheese November 13th, 2005 02:33 AM

Re: Scope's Texture Set

I've already done that one! :p

Your stuff's looking great Scope! Hurry up and come online so I can work out something with you! I think though that your Italian faces look too brown, could you make them a bit more olive-coloured?

Cheers :)

Re: Scope's Texture Set

Italians look TOO American.

cc. November 13th, 2005 12:43 PM

Re: Scope's Texture Set

yah. a bit too american. also you might wanna make the faces look a bit gruffer. ie more stubble and not so smooth skin. after all they were in the field for quite a while.

marine84 November 13th, 2005 02:06 PM

Re: Scope's Texture Set

how about adding some scruffier looking brits and germans for desert maps. It seems like alot of pictures taken of Troops in North Africa had dirty unshaven looking soldiers. Another suggestion I thought of was if it was possible to make new "camo" uniforms for the japanese by having palm leaves on there helmets and uniforms.

Re: Scope's Texture Set

Update!
These are pretty much reskins now of the textures that were made already.
I'll get to the italian faces once I've got time.
US Airborne Redo:

No4 + Carbine Touchup:

M36 and sandbag showoff:
This is just to showoff some more stuff, all credit goes to the dev team for this skin. (I just worked off the new 'AWESOME' Sherman skin so it fits with the m36)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...xtures/m36.jpg

thats it for now!

wow excellent keep up the great work!

Al Capone November 15th, 2005 02:27 PM

Re: Scope's Texture Set

I was skeptical at first but this looks dam good

I agree about gruffer faces for the Brits in Africa, give em loads of facial hair

Anyway, will it be possible to have this mod installed at the same time as the historical textures pack or will this mod include swastikas etc?

Also any chance new sounds will ever be included, the current FH ones are pretty bog standard, even compared to 0.66 sounds :uhm:

Mr_Cheese November 15th, 2005 03:00 PM

Re: Scope's Texture Set

It's ok! Scope is now a member of the Historical Texture Pack team! His skills will be added to those of Rikupsoni, Gauntlet and Hanley (and me!) Together we will take on the world! and, er, work on a pack which adds to the historical accuracy of FH without changing too many of the textures... Version 2 of the Texture Pack is on its way - new skins include re-worked desert skins for the British vehicles (as per Lightning's instructions), new German backpacks, and, of course, many of Scope's great skins!

Cheers! :)

oscar989 November 15th, 2005 03:56 PM

Re: Scope's Texture Set

Can you guys make the Japanese uniforms a little more reconizable. Because I can't tell the difference on most Pacific maps.

Oldschool November 15th, 2005 06:12 PM

Re: Scope's Texture Set

Yes yes if you could reskin the japanese uniforms that would be very nice, it can be confusing on some of the maps.
All in all your skins are very impressive so far, the faces could use some more detail, but everything still looks very good.

lol I forgot to mention that!
Well I'm helping out with their their texture pack now! so no more of the hassle of downloading two things now ;)
since I'm helping out with them...I guess we need a new thread...

:lookaround:

Okay so anyways I will get around to fixing up the faces...the italians and the brits...and ill try to somehow get the Japs uniforms to be more recognizable.Well at least I enjoy retexturing stuff :uhm:
*starts to study for the History test*

No problem, we'd just nail them for income tax evasion, paisan.

Speaking of which, <offtopic> there are a few interesting accounts around about how the OSS (CIA precursor) basically enabled the various organized crime outfits in Italy (Mafia, Camorra, N'Dragheta, whatever) to grow again after WWII after they'd been virtually wiped out by Mussolini & co., by cultivating them as resistance outfits in Italy...

yep, they were highly american friendly (liked the capitalist way of crime) and instead of wiping them totally out they let them reform in 1944 to join the fight.

Shame they didn't wipe the mafia out in there own country  The Mafia were still going strong well into the early 1960's.

Ok back on topic, anymore lovely pics for us?

And nice work scope.

Yes. Some of Scope's work will be in Version 2 of Mr.Cheese's Texture Pack.
