Last week, I got the opportunity to ask Lobo from the Forgotten Hope team a few questions about their Battlefield 2
adaption of their popular Battlefield 1942 mod: Forgotten Hope 2.
PBF: For those that don't know, give us a general description of Forgotten Hope 2. FH: Forgotten Hope is a historically accurate World War II modification of the Entertainment Arts game Battlefield 1942, that strives to deliver all facets of WWII combat in a realistic, but enjoyable manner. This is, currently, one of the largest mods in existence with more than 250 vehicles, 150 hand weapons, and 70 custom maps. Forgotten Hope 2 is the next generation of historical combat, and we hope to include all the fun of FH 1, but greatly improved and enhanced with the Battlefield 2 engine.
PBF: There were a lot of theaters of war in World War II. Which ones will Forgotten Hope 2 include? FH: Any theater from WWII is fair game for FH 2, though the larger ones have priority. We will certainly start things off with the main theaters, such as Africa, Europe, Russia, and the Pacific. These theaters are so large, that most of them will incorporate many different armies and will continue to expand over the course of development.
so we mite see more armys?

Smoke artillery, Ironsites, Sappers, and more!
No mention of Alternative loadouts for tanks(HE/AT) Nor any mention of my beloved 88 but thats good enough for a first release to keep me happy.

i didnt even read this one PBF: Will there be any "handicap" maps, where two armies fight one, i.e. Germany's and Finland's assualt on Leningrad. (The two armies don't have to be cooperating.) FH: We will explore the possibilities of the BF 2 engine to determine if we can include more then two armies in a map, but if it’s possible, you can expect to see multiple armies ganging-up.
it sounds like fun if it could work!

Well I'm sure a switching between HE and AT rounds feature will be in FH2, it's something lots of people always wanted for FH and it's very easy to implemend in BF2. I played the Project Reality Realism Mod for BF2 which already had HEAT and APFSDS selection. So the devs would be crazy to not use this feature.

Our last BF 1942 release, FH 7, will be released late September/early October.
This can't be right. It's already September 30th and we have no release date yet. And by the way, did Russia really fight Japan in Malaysia?

It says No.IV rifle in there, but personally I think it should be No.I Mk.III since it is North Africa.

Finland's assault on Leningrad?
And even if it would be Romania / Hungary etc., Germany vs Russia , what would be the point that they would be killing comrades and enemies same time?
