Having fun with this..
 

I've been playing with FH for about the last week, and getting some sense of the maps and equipment.
Iwo Jima-Love what you've done with the place...hehe. The original map looked like someplace you'd go on vacation. The FH Iwo looks like the blasted hell it really was. Used the flame-thrower Sherman for the first time, great fun turning the enemy into crispy critters. Of course, somebody tried to use the aircraft carrier for a landing craft; I thought that silliness was only for BF public servers.

Played that D-day map last night, what a meat-grinder for the Allies! I wondered why we started out with so many more tickets than the Germans...Soon found out.

The late-war Germans vs. American map with the setting sun, clouds, and autumn foliage is really gorgeous. Got too laggy, though, and I had to quit.

Is the Wolf server the only game in town? I see a few players on some of the others, but Wolf consistently has a full house, so much so that it's hard to get in.

There are many good servers to join in. The 9th Infantry and BFE WAW servers come to mind first. But Wolf is very lag free (at least for me) and i join it when i can.

As an admin of the VSF server (though I play under the [HLA]SpongeBob name when there, along with fellow admin, LionRampant) I'm pleased you mentioned our little server. It certainly could use more traffic, though it tends to get lively toward the end of the week and the weekend, but we try our best to drum up interest. Always happy to see an invasion by the [SYN] people, you guys all play rather well.

The TDB server and the 130th guys have nice servers too, but I usually play on Dead Meat.

Use All Seeing Eye to ping for servers, much easier and as well you should see more FH servers than just Wolf.

The above link is for the whole world, you can select it for only US, or only Canada, or whatever country you are in.

Very weird though is that Wolf is not showing up :confused: It was there before for sure... what happened? Did Wolf stop being registered with GameSpy?

No problem. Always nice to jump on your well behaved server :cool: Now if only i could get those "[SYN] people" to start participating in community forums...

Seriously now, yes there are other servers besides WOLF, i can advise the WAW server mentioned before, the short tag distance and exilent teamplay makes it a very good server when there is a decent amount of players. And of course the WOLF server, but its usually full.. for some reason ;)

You should cycle trough the servers mentioned and choose the ones that suit your style of playing, be sure to thread lightly when not sure about the rules of a sertain server, as they can differ quite alot.

That is very true. For example, in the Dead Meat server, base camping is allowed, whereas the Wolf server does not allow it. When you enter a server and youre unsure of the rules, dont be afraid to ask!

Since nobody has mentioned Dissidents server, I will:D We have a fairly new server on the FH scene and it just full some nights and not so full other nights so please feel free to join.

At 3.2 Ghz, 1 gig of ram and a huge 100mbit connection your pretty much guaranteed that any lag you experience is not due to the server.

We also have a public teamspeak channel (no password) to anybody is free to join. Just hop into the Home of |D| or Forgotten Hope channel.

we had a funwar against 9the infantery.
wher are a dutch clan and 9the infatery surfer is a USA surfer.
so when we play it i lagt like hell...we all are lucky to have a good pc so we have do the the contecion between ameriacan and europe surfers are VERY bad. so for wars etc it isnt nice...our reaction was much slower than that of the enemy

I start the game and klick on "update", filter for FH servers.
And i see all servery mentioned in this thread..

Ase, not only has the ability to poll quite a great deal of other games for you, filter by practically every aspect of each game (FF, Conquest, OBJ, CTF, country, ping, # of players, etc...) but also allows you to add "buddies" to track, so you can see where your friends, people you play with often, etc... are playing, in real time (if you register it) and also search for anyone playing anywhere on any game all at once. A lifetime registration (at least when I got mine, prior to Yahoo's purchase of ASE, was very much worth it, I think it was only 25 US dollars.

All the mentioned servers are good. I think that is a testimony to the overall integrity of the FH community. I tend to go with those with more players and least ping which varies from time to time but it is encouraging to know we all have server/map options.

Just out of curiousity, do you have onboard sound? If so, I can't suggest strongly enough to get a separate soundcard (even an old used one)

Please forgive M*A*S*H for he is very biased. Mostly towards anything not in Southern California. Since it snows in Germany, Netherlands and France, he has a great fear of such places.

Yeah, that was pretty fun trying to come up with different hopping combinations to try and fool you. I found myself trying to see how long I could stay up there before you turned my melon into a fine, red mist. :lol:

Oh, and SpongeBob speaks the truth... my SoCal bias is strong. Being a left-coaster, my pings to Euro servers are so heinously nasty that I very rarely get to experience some of the good servers on that side of the pond.
