Crosshair question

I have to ask because it's really bothering me.

Does everyone else have to aim a little to the right ?

What I mean is the crosshair isn't exactely in the middle, if I'm trying to hit something far away, placing the dot right on target will make me miss. the dot has to be on the right edge of the target, and its getting me killed all the time.

Is it because of my resolution settings (1024x768), the problem seems to get worse if I increase it.

Re: Crosshair question

Depends. Is the target moving? However, I think I get this problem in vanilla BF. When I'm sniping someone (standing still) from far away, I have to aim a bit to the left of their head to get a headshot. I dunno....

Anyways, in FH, it's coded so that the farther the bullet travels, the longer it takes to get to its target and the more it begins to fall (due to gravity). So, you'll have to adjust your aim accordingly.

Remember you have to take the bulletdrop into account. So aim up a little.
I don't really get that "aiming a little to the right"-thing though when I'm infantery, but all the German tankguns seem to be off.

Something the FH-devs should read:

Well, I dont know about off to the right but I almost always aim a little higher when trying to hit a target over distance. For the most part, it works.

If you think it's the resolution, well I've changed mine from 800x600 to 1024x768 and now it's at 1600x1200 and I havent noticed any change. Make sure it's not your monitor that's off.

I started a singleplayer game to get some screenshots and show you what I mean, but none of the bots would stay still long enough, so i ended with aiming at a telephone pole instead.

I know about the bulletdrop and that's not it. But bulletdrop and this aiming thing makes some rifles very hard for me to use. I can't hit anything with the Mosin on Kharkov - it's ridiculous really, I can empty several mags at someone lying prone on the hill and still not hit them :)

I have 2 screenshoots, imagine them being a stationary target/player and aiming for the head. I would propably hit the telephone pole I'm aiming at in both shoots, but to hit the one behind it, I would have to aim, like in the "hit"-screenshots.

In case it doesnt show the first screenshot is hit, the second miss.

Re: Crosshair question

I notice this in tanks, but not infantry. But then again, on servers that i play on, there is no middle dot in the crosshair

Re: Crosshair question

One more thing..

The dot isn't in the middle of the four lines, it a bit too far right and down (southeast), that gets even worse if I increase the resolution.

I've tried searching the forum, but I have found nothing about this, which makes me think it could be a hardware problem. But that just doesnt make sense, the game runs fine otherwise. And if the're was something wrong with my monitor, the whole picture would be distorted, not just the crosshairs ???

Re: Crosshair question

Hydraslav. How do you remove the dot? it's not in the menu as far as i can see.

I've read somthing about costumized crosshairs, but don't they cause a Punkbuster problem ?

Re: Crosshair question

It's a server setting. The server decides whether players have the dot or not.
