Howdy- quick question

Used to play BF1942 quite a bit, eventually got tired the poor realism and flight model, and went to WWII online. Excellent game, but time consuming, and a real strain on the old PC as well. And you have to pay...

I had looked at FH when it first came out, but I couldn't get it to run at the time. Other gamers have told me most of the bugs are ironed out, and I'm considering giving it a try.

I've long since taken BF1942 off the HD; what do I need to reinstall? I've got the original game, and the Ist add-on. Can't even remember how many patches I installed over the year or so I played.
Can I install FH over the straight-off-the-CD game, or do I need to patch it up?

What are your specs? You need a pretty good system to run FH well

Re: Howdy- quick question

Patch BF1942 up to v1.61. Download FH .65 files (3 files), FH .65-.67 patch, then FH .67-.67a patch. That already is quite a bit of downloading.

Suggested downloads, FH Realism 2.0 & 2.1 patch. Hey, while you're at it download Norwegian Resistance to :D

That's about it for downloading lol Most importantly tho, like someone mentioned above what are your system specs? I don't know much about WWII Online but aren't the graphics a bit dated?

Re: Howdy- quick question

I'm running P4 1.9, Radeon 9800 pro, gig of RAM, etc. fair-to-middlin if not top of the line.
Runs Half-life 2 cleanly, and Sturmovik as well.

Hehe-graphics are not the strong suit of WWII online. Everytime they do an improvement there's a massive run to buy new hardware... They do have moving foliage now, which is kinda fun.

The vehicles, and the physics therof are modeled very well, very realistic. The flight model is not perfect, but very good; much better than CFSIII. Your fellow troopers are stone ugly. It's a great game, very immersive, but very time-consuming.

Your system should run FH fine. I can run it fine and I dont have as good a graphics card as you do.

*gruffly* Now as soon as you get all your gear together Private, I want to see you on the front lines as soon as possible! We need all the men we can get! Now suit up!

*normal* Glad to see you've taken an interest in this great mod. The guys are right, you will need quite a beefy system to run this game with full settings and all the bells and whistles. But if you can, then more power to you! Welcome!

Just looked through the PDF manual, and there's certainly a lot of toys to play with! Fortunately, I have broadband. May get a chance over the weekend to D/L all this stuff.

The manual doesn't feature everything :naughty: there are dozens of "hidden" toys and features too :deal:
