New Forgotten Hope song released!!

Hi all:

I'm a fan of Forgotten Hope Mod, and here is my personal contribution to this mod. I've composed a totally original, epic war song for our loved mod.

Me, as most of you, love "Elk Hunt", the tune of "Last mohicans" movie which sounds during the loading map screen. But I think FH mod needs a totally original sound track.

We've discussed about it thousands of times in the FH forums, and I still thinking our great mod needs its own music. This is the first of many songs I'm composing to be part of FH mod. If FH devs & you like it, of course

I've used quality classical symphonic instruments, so there aren't electric guitars, synths, etc. I think it sounds enough professional to FH, but keep in mind that this is only a first release of the song.

I've spent a lot of time, thinking, composing, arranging and correcting this song, and I hope you listen its full lenght one time at least. It's only 3 min. long, so I think it's not a big effort

As I have said before, the composition stills opened. This is only a first release. If you have comments, or if you think that some things have to be changed, cutted... please, mail me to super.rantam@gmail.com, send me a personal message or post in this thread.

This release hasn't all the quality it can have, due to the compresion used to reduce the file size. If FH devs accept this tune to be included in the mod I'll send them the full quality version.

To listen the Forgotten Hope Theme download the installer from HERE, and install it in your BF1942 folder. You'll listen the song in the loading map screen. Don't press the "OK" button when the map had been loaded to listen the song's full lenght.

To download it, go to the link and clic the "Free" button in the bottom of the page.

If you want to backup the "Elk hunt" theme before installing the Forgotten Hope theme, go to the Mods/FH/Music folder and rename the file "Vehicle4.bik".

If I have one point of contructive criticism it is that the melody seems a little lost in the middle. (or maybe it is just too soft?)
Still, it is great-the only real question being what should it be used for (ie. loading, victory, defeat, or menu)

Before you converted it to .bik was it a midi? (If it was it is incredibly high quality and the only reason I presume this is because I can't think of how else you might have made this.) If it was a midi can you post it? I could pull the score out of it. Then, with the score drawn from the midi, perhaps we could get a live performance of this *looks at highschool band or private lesson teacher's proffesional ensemble *

Nice, but seems more fit for the main menu theme (slaughter4) rather than loading music (vehicle4). Pretty good!

Well... What is the melody for you?. The song has many parts, and each instruments plays its own melody most of the time!!

May be it'd be useful to you to have the list of instruments included in the song:

- Trumpet
- Violas
- Celllos
- Tubes
- Snare
- German cymbal
- Synphonic strings pizzicatto

If you're talking about the melody of the beginning, its played by the trumpet. If you're talking about the melody which appears with the trumpet in the beggining and in the end of the theme, it's played by violas, cellos & tube.

As you can see, there're only seven instruments. I've tried to avoid a lot of instruments to get a clear melody. Of course, mixing has been a very hard work. And still being

Many of you are posting about it... The first time i heard the song in the game I thought something similar. I've been thinking about it, and may be if I cut or reddo the first part of the song, deleting the trumpet part, it would be a better loading screen theme... What do you think about it? Any ideas?


I have to say that part of the original score has been cutted. The beginning that you've heard is not the "real" beginning of the song. It was cut because the song started a bit less powerful than now. I'm not talking about volume or note of velocity. It was a intro part, only with trumpet, snare and chellos, I think... At the bottom of this post you'll find the full version in MP3 format!!

Yes, of course!! If you want I can tell you how I did it

I love to do music. I play electric/acoustic/spanish guitar, drums, etc. but in this song I only used a MIDI controller keyboard. I bought it two weeks a go. The model is M-AUDIO Keystation 49e, and only cost 100 €!!

It doesn't sounds without a PC, and if you connect it to your PC you could use your soundcard MIDI/synth to make it sound. But of course, most of the soundcards banks sound terrific!!

So, I've used a sampler loaded with quality sounds of real orchestral instruments, played by real orchestral players. Please, note that I HAVEN'T USE MELODY LOOPS of this instruments. All the instruments were recorded note by note to be used in a sampler or keyboard, so you have to compose the melody!!

As you can see, there's a midi of the song. And if you load it in a sequencer you'll have the score!!

If you want it I can give you the MIDI, anyway, all FH devs stuff is released with the mod. So why not the music? But of course, if you don't have the original orchestral samples, you'll have to use you own soundcard/synth sounds, and usually they don't sound very well. Sorry, by I can't give you my orchestral samples, I'm talking about hundred and hundred of Megabytes!!

I'd very happy if you do a live perfomance of my hard done theme!! And if you do it record it and send it to me!!

Of course, I give you the MP3 many lines forward in this post . But I still thinking is better to heard it ingame. When the map has loaded you'll still listening the song with the ingame sounds, and it is really cool!! Try it!!

Anyway, If you want the MP3 HERE it is!! THIS IS THE FULL SONG VERSION. TAKE NOTE THAT I've cut from the beggining to 20th second in the file which is in the installer!! I've cut it because I thought the song needed to be more powerful in the first part.
