Betty's parachute bombs

Personally i think the Betty would be far more affective if they did without the parachutes and their slow as hell decent.

Edit* okay there was supposed to be a poll on wether or not you wanted them to stay but im tired + stupid so there isnt one. please feel free to post your opinion on the matter.

I think its fine as is, the bombs still do the same damage, and i doubt anything below in the path of the bombs will manage to get away if you are using the bomber as you are suppost to.. obviously it is not a high altitude bomber. Those shutes are there to keep the bombs from exploding directly under the plane.. (i think ;) )

You can hit things fine with them (its actually easier i think), you just have to learn the trajectory the fall at.

No they didnt, but i think there are different versions in FH, right? i think the one on midway has shutes, and the one on Iwo has the kamikazi rocket-dart.

havent seen the reg-bomb version tho.

The Para bombs were used for anti shipping missions, when the bomber came in a few feet over the wavetops. In that situation, normal bombs would also kill the plane.

It's good for bombing the island too. There are like 16 AA guns on the island (Wake) and with the parachute bombs you can stay low enough to avoid most of the AA fire.

I've never heard of Bettys using parabombs against ships, only airfield runways, the same as the USAAF and USMC had. (Panavia Tornado's JP233 is its direct descendent of this idea).

When bombers attacked at wave height against ships and didn't have torps they used the skip bombing technique which is somthing I don't think in the current engine could be done.

I agree with Mondo skip bombing by US planes was very widespread in the Pacific.

Also why do the B-25 not have parabombs? werent the US and ANZAC's the largest user of the type in the PTO and CBI theatre?

Personally I would prefer to add parabombs to the A-20 Havoc because we know FH is gonna add a A-20 Havoc...RIGHT?

paraboms are easier to aim with imo..

Re: Betty's parachute bombs

Anlushac, ANZAC's was a WW1 term. In WW2 the Austrialians and New Zealanders had there own branches of each service (Australian Imperial Airforce changed to the RAAF and RNZAF etc) and were very much there own individual forces.:)

An A20 with parabombs would be cool but they carried 40+ of them, could cause terrible lag. Not sure on RAAF use of the B25 and A20's. They certainly had them. The A20 should rock. Imagine a big P47 with 2 engines and 6 .50's in the nose. Gonna be nasty!

we still call ourselves ANZACS as a whole...and Aussies are collectively known as Diggers.

It was still AIF1 and AIF2. The RAN was still the RAN (royal australian navy) and it is to this day.

i love the para bombs. you can fly super low over wake and let loose, wiping out people as you pass over them. The bombs land nearly war where you drop them, especially when your low and the plane doesnt get blown up like with non-para bombs.

If pacific fighters is any indication, the B-25 could be fitted with parafrag bombs.

Could the betty be given normal and para bomb loudouts in random spawn?
