German BMW R75 Military Motorcycle w/Sidecar

http://www.majic.nl/bmwr75.jpg

The BMW R 75 was classified by the German army as a "heavy" motorcycle since it had an engine displacement of over 500cc. Along with the Zundapp KS750, it was used heavily in North Africa since it was able to handle the adverse terrain.

It also saw extensive and succesfull use as scouting, surveillance and communications vehicle on all other fronts, from muddy Russian fields to the tight and curly roads of France.

The BMW R 75 featured a horizontally opposed two cylinder engine with 746cc displacement and a max speed of 92 kmh. It was often fitted with a sidecar which mounted a MG34 machine gun. After about 1943, motorcycles in the German army were replaced by 4-wheel vehicles.

The BMW R 75 is as missed in the current FH 0.65 gaming / tactical environment as much as the Panzer III based tanks! It contributed greatly to the small scale blitzkrieg style warfare from 1941 to 1943, and was very popular among the troops for it's versatility and performance. In FH it will fit in many maps without debalancing the gameplay, yet add more tactical possibilities and realism.

It is hence my hope that the FH team will put this great machine on their to-do list for releases scheduled in the near future - without a doubt the addition of the BMW R75 motorcycle will appeal to potential/new users for its charisma (Everyone associates these bikes with WW2 - they appear in every movie!), and to veterans for it's tactical advantages and realism.

Hm that is sexy. Am I supposed to know this, or did me peeking at the "vehicles" link on the front page and checking some forums leave something to be desired ? :)

I'm also supporting the idea of adding this MC. It would be a great veichle to storm the weakest line of the enemy. I'm can just imagine how cool it must be too storm thru the desert on El Alamein...

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade style races would be cool on maps like Goodwood and Blacknight :D

I love this model, I think a dev somewhere along the line said that all or most unskinned models that werent able to make it into 0.65 are in 0.66 bar one new model (I think it's a Panzer III ;) ) so maybe this will be in?

But as always, nice model :)

Well, if you consider the two different implemented StuG3s (SturmGeschütz based on Panzer III chassis) to be tanks then they are already there ;)

But ok, I know what you mean. I am looking forward to see the real Panzer III as well :)
Especially after having driven the beast on BG42 maps (oh my god, what did I say  ).

I really hope this one will be implemented soon..cant wait till I can buzz around the maps at top speed with my regular buddy in the sidecar with an MG34 ... We'd own the place ! :)

Re: German BMW R75 Military Motorcycle w/Sidecar

well if they put it in it has to have the side car because 2 wheeled things just dont work in BF1942, or even BFV for that matter, anyone remember the scooter for paralle world mod the one with the bazoka stcikin thu it it was fun but it would tip over and blow up with out warning

Lobo November 30th, 2004 08:45 PM

Re: German BMW R75 Military Motorcycle w/Sidecar

Not true, 2 wheeled things work perfect in FH, and you could ask why I am saying it if this BMW is not skined and has sidecar...good question :)

I have actually played with a bike in BF...there was this one mod...which everyone hated :(

I am not mentioning the name, so I wouldn't get flamed.

The motorcycle would be cool to see.. with sidecar and mg, but only if the maps are turned into push style maps.. else we will have motorcycle rambo's capping rear flags.. :(!!!

unrealgama December 4th, 2004 02:38 PM

Re: German BMW R75 Military Motorcycle w/Sidecar

yeah but that would be fixed it they coded so you cant cap rearflags, unless front most ones are caped i HATE when people cap the back falg and wreck the map(even if im the on assaulting)

|HV|MacGyver December 5th, 2004 03:04 AM

Re: German BMW R75 Military Motorcycle w/Sidecar

Well if they'd all make the maps rush-like capturable, you'd have gameplay like the mapper intended; so you have to cap the next flag, not the one behind it etc... It would make defending a lot more wortwhile now that I think of it, as well as attacking, because everyone would go for the same flag.

You'd actually use a jeep/apc/motor what's it for, going to the front, not behind it ;)

*Is excited*
