It's only like 5 hours anyway. I just started downloading 0.64 when I was asleep and then I could play it when I got home from school. No problems...

yep he's from BFE, although i don't agree with what BFE have done i'm sure their was a good reason for them getting the beta.Look at it this way, once 0.65 comes out the people at BFE who got the beta will have seen and done it all, they'll be no excitement like there will for the rest of us.

Surley this is goin to be "the" biggest mod ever? Full retail games are not this big even when installed.

EST size = 1.6 gb

300 k = +/- 30 kb/s ------------> 14 hours
750 k = +/- 80 kb/s------------> 6 hours
1.5 mb = +/- 160 kb/s---------> 3 hours

Thats a Guess I don't know anyone whos on 1.5 mb as its bloodly expensive. I have 750 k upgraded from 600k and I get a DL speed of about 70 - 85 kb/s which means I'll start it before I go to work.

BTW, you can check when your speed is due to be upgraded here:

Re: Wow, how big can this mod get?

Stupid SBC still needs to optimize my DSL, its only like 160k which only gives me like 19k downloads.

5h1t! 14 Hours :(? I'll have to send the wife away for a while as she has a habit of turning the PC off when no-one's sat at it... then she complains when I use it for hours... women eh? Twisted logic I think :) But of course my daughter can use MSN for days and that's okay!

Dunno how she turns the PC off anyway, must pull the plug out of the wall as I've never found / looked for an off switch. :(

Tried running Azureus but it comes out with NAT error when I test it - I've forwarded the reqd port in the router - will have to investigate urgently now.

BTW a better surefire test if on NTLWorld:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...speedtest.html
Only works once as it get cached after.

I'm on 5Mbit and it's standard here. :D

5Mbit = +/- 600 kb/s ----------> 45 minutes :)

Re: Wow, how big can this mod get?

I'm gonna have to leave this badboy downloading overnight.Next week my broadnband is being updated to double the speed it is right now which is 526kbps DSL.Once Wanadoo update instead of getting a maximum speed of 40kbps i will get 80 kbps.This will probably only take 6 hours to download like mg42 said.However i need to wait till the 14th of September for the update to come through.If FH release before then i'm gonna have to do what i always do and leave it downloading for ages.

But maybe the FH-Devs could design a demo for FH, consistig of a map or two and all the required files. That could show people what this Mod is all about and wouldn“t force them to download 1.7 GB just to find out they dont like it...

Best idea I've heard about this "issue" yet!

Where there is a will, there is a way. If the size is too big for your machine, order the DVD, go to a friend's, download all night, sumptin...

Re: Wow, how big can this mod get?

Well I've just got Azureus sorted (hadn't forwarded the port correctly in the router) and am downloading Galactic Conquest Mod at the moment as a test...
So I guess I'm ready when FH is released then :D and I would recommend this method to everyone else as it'll resume and was easy to setup.

Re: Wow, how big can this mod get?

I say you leave it alone however big it is. the mod is awesome because of all the vehicles weapons and maps they put into it guys so quit compaining about what the guys at FH are doing "wrong" and be happy that there making us a mod in the first place.
