Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? Iv never had a transport aircraft that can drop ammo boxes drop ammo to me. And Iv never been successful in delivering ammo from the plane either. One time when I used them, the person said the boxes dissapeared to quickly to get any ammo from them. It seems even if they worked better there not very usefull to gameplay anyway though. What are other peoples experience with dropping ammo boxes from aircraft. Im curious if anyone has used these correctly and had it really contribute to winning. Sure there handy for use as a taxi or para-drop, but beyond that, when actually playing as a transport aircraft who has really aided the team. (And when I say usefull I don't mean nine-elevening the king tiger with the DC-3). |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? nah they are useless. they should drop some light infantry guns instead. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? Maybe put a parachute on them for more accurate drop to infantry and change from ammo box to "supplies" so it gives ammo and health. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? health would be much better yes, but they have model those para containers |

No, serious, i think that it should drop infantry equipment too, but stuff that isn't available in the menu, and is usefull to the players in the field. That means heavier or less available weapons like panzerschreck heavy AT kit, expack demolition kit, heavy tripod mg kit and rare scoped (semi) automatic weapons. In large deserts dropping ammo crates can be invaluable, but in current FH there are no mapswith transpoter aircraft that have ammo crates far enough apart for that function to be any usefull. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? Speaking of scoped automatic weapons, I never found the scoped STG44. Where the hell is it? I wasted 1 hour of my life just by playing "Where's the scoped STG?" |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? The transport aircraft should drop dummy paratroopers like they did in real life lol that would be cool . |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? One can be found from the watermill in Breakhtrough. Anyway, I think the plane dropped ammoboxes are next to useless. Instead they should drop light infantry- and anti-tank guns, tripod machineguns and different other supplies on parachutes. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? I like the idea of health and rare weapons instead of crummy ammo. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? It would also be interesting if they added a parachute to the kits/supplies being dropped similiar to the Japanese bomber(dont know its name). |

Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? One time on crete (i was german) i had the matilda, and i was sitting at a flag and out of ammo. So here comes the transport plane and to my suprise actually dropes ammo near me! The only problem was it literally didnt stop slidding across the ground. It slid a few hundred feet, and then flew of the top of a mountian :(. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? I'd like to see light infantry support guns being dropped and then ammo after it..or "supply canisters" |

Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? Totally useless. It should drop special weapon kits like light machine-guns, mortars, etc. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? I see no use for the current static mortars. Like in Gold Beach no one ever uses them. Can't do any sort of indirect fire, or even estimate where the shell goes. Haven't ever tried with someone spotting, but they do seem kinda futile in general. I've even heard that people in the real world sometimes in desperate situations used mortars as direct-firing AT&infantry guns, with guesstimated aim, placing the tube rear against something vertical. I have an impression it was Finns who I read did that, but it could be some other country, or even many countries. But then again, mortars in 0.62 could be changed..? |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? I got a kill with a mortar once! Though it was totally luck on guadal canal with a pickup kit. |

Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? I've used the mortors on Gold Beach and killed a few people before (blindly aiming). |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? hmm, useless.. yes. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? Give static mortars a permanent atrillary spot of the estimate range where they can fire? This would be nice. Pointless to have a spotter for mortars, it's not worth the cost of a man having him hide so the spot does not vanish. Here's what I think: When a officer or sniper spots for arty, the spot should last for a LONG time, and stay if the spotter dies. certain static artillary/support units should have permanent spots of a specific area. For example, if you hop on that mortar that's beside that house in Gold, your right-click arty view will ALWAYS show the strip of land by the front flag where it can hit. It would be useful, and people would want to use it. There would be no screaming for a spot, shooting off 2 rounds, then the spotter dies and you're out of luck. |
Re: Transport Aircraft Ammo Boxes Useless? yea how about mortors just get a aim sight like the old dc mortors or a static third person view above them. There just no powerfull enough to justify buggin people for arty call as the range is to limited. The only luck i had was on gold beach with the one in the house courtyard where i called the arty calls myself. I think I got one person before i got knifed. |
