I'll probably buy BF:V eventually, however I'm in no rush. I see it simply as a vehicle to play great mods, the actual DICE game will probably be average in comparison. For now I'm happy to play FH and EoD.
I figure you don't have to rush......games get cheaper when they get older.
But having played BFV for several hours convinced me this no ordinary expansion pack exploit as SW of WWII was. Many games are built on the same engine wich does not mean they are all cheap rip off products.
This game has really a totally diffrent atmosfere, the maps are extremely well done and do not resemble bf1942 maps. There are a ton of new buildings and structures, even with furniture that really fit in the enviroment. All vehicles have radio's with a ton of '60's songs, really a nice touch. There are more ways to kill enemy players without having to shoot them....boobytraps, mines and even wooden stake traps. High grass makes some enviroments really intense.
All passengers can use their own weapon while inside most vehicles.....
Napalm bombs, heat seeking missiles....
I guess this game is no good if you are WWII interested only, or if you don't want to spend money on a game, but this is NOT a bad game.....
I guess the mods that can really put the new features to work will be EOD and DC. But there is a lot interesting for FH too. Such as high grass and dense vegetation, the new explosives, traps and mines ( remodelled and coded into WWII explosives ofcourse ) and more....

Coulnd't(sp?) agree more Beast. But I think my computer would die a painfull death if FH converted to BF:V, I mean, BF:V runs almost better than FH...
I have stuttery framerate even at medium detail.....that is it for my GF4 4600 Ti Ultra.......it has become too slow ( was already, could not run many new FPS games properly )
Maybe the sound settings have got to do with it too, sound in BFV has become very advanced when you look at the settings you can make in the menu.....EAX3 and 7.1 speaker support.
I think the DC devs want very much to put their hands on that heat seeking- or better yet - vehicle seeking missiles
I must say the bot AI does not dissapoint either......they are even very communicative and "talk" a lot over the radio.....

I don't know what the problem is, so I'm waiting for a patch to be released to address the preformance lags and balance issues before I really start playing it.

Ohioan have you tried the soundbuffer tweak? My BFV runs pretty smooth now, I just get some minimal HD swapping when loading new maps ("only" have 512 RAM).

What soundbuffer tweak? Do you have a link? I turned a lot of the Sound options down, but I'm still looking for things to tweak.
I was playing on a smaller server today for a while. It really does play differently then bf1942. It's more infantry based, with vehicles solely in a support role, unlike the original battlefield which left infantry combat to be desired.

It is really addictive......i first was influenced by what Strider said "don't give EA you money" and my own experience with SW of WWII but i guess since i am enjoying this game they have actually earned my money again. It is nothing like bf1942, and most certainly not like the bf1942 expansions.
Nice touch you are given a military rank along with the score too......I havent figured out what it means but there are some players with a silver or gold star on their name tags too ingame....
I have no means of testing it yet, but i begin to suspect the score is not only from capping flags and shooting enemies alone......i suspect destroying enemy vehicles might give you score too, but i do not know for sure.
Also, i suspect shared kills were implemented. I was rewarded kills without actually killing a player, only damaging them before someone else killed them. But on this i am not sure also.
