French and Italians Are they still planned to be added? I havent heard anything since the mod first started. Heh. Just would like an update. |
Re: French and Italians Quote:
Heh great I can see it now. The game would only have 100 tickets. the French or Italian troops would have no guns...since they threw them away as soon as the enemy army showed up. They need to get to one of three "Surrender Zones" before machinegunned by the enemy forces. Hey hey...I'm kidding...no really....no no honestly...really...just a joke...swear!! |

The French will probably be in one of the major future patches 0.7 or 0.8. |

Re: French and Italians Wee another "bash the french" or "my country is better than yours"-thread... ;) Be patient, we will see in the next version (0.7) whos in and whos not. I wouldn´t look forward to this the finns and the polish are already in and look they get a map each and thats it.. ;) |

Re: French and Italians Good call lightning |
Re: French and Italians Yeah...I don't know if you could call a country like france cowards. They had just as good of tanks as the germans, more tanks if you combine the bef. But, having WWI in your backyard (while it was never fought in germany) and losing 25% of your young men in that war can be a little disheartening. btw that souma looks awesome. |

Someday I hope "Political Correctness" is dammed to the 9th plane of hell where it belongs. It's nothing but a crutch for the weak hearted and whiners. IMHO. Oh no I better not make a joke someone maybe offended...SUCK IT UP! GET TOUGH for goodness sake! It's a hard world and it will eat you alive if you are not careful. <rant off> That being said back on topic. The French tanks in 1940 were heavier and "better" over all to the Germans. The Italians on the other hand, even though utilized tanks in the early 30s, had poor tank designs. |
Re: French and Italians Thats ok, it's just there have been more threads like this and most of them resulted in flame wars and people being banned and such. And we don't want that, now do we? :) |
Re: French and Italians People who bash French and Italians are just plain ignorant. |

Here's a neat Italian Vehicle...it would be easy, similar to the German Puma. http://www.wwiitech.net/main/italy/v...a40/index.html |
Re: French and Italians I think FH is going to concentrate on sharpening up what countries are ingame before they begin to add the long promised Italians and French, which is a good decision if you ask me. |
Re: French and Italians I hope they add some good africa map with the Italians. It feels like they've been neglecting the Africa front. |
Re: French and Italians I don´t know if i would like to play the italians, but i don´t think it would be fun, after having tried playing the italians in combat mission 3 (most realistic ww2 strategical IMO) and it never was any fun, cause most of the equipment is really crappy, kudos to the soldiers who had to fight with this stuff. It would really be difficult to make the map halfway balanced. Despite that, i really would like to see more maps el ala style.. |
Re: French and Italians I would really like to see Italians in the game, cos I liked the maps in Road to Rome, especially the hilly terain and textures... |
Re: French and Italians We actually had a map for them along with some weapons but decided to hold off until later so we can fix them up and add in a bit more. Fun map it was.... They'll be added sooner or later. |
Re: French and Italians Sure Italians had bad weapons..but, they had good weapons too, just not enough of them. I don't know much about their bolt action rifles, but their Berreta SMGS were some of the best made SMGS during WWII. Italy was pretty early in the Tank Destroyer and SPG game, and had good early and late war tank destroyers (just not enough of them :) ) Everyone knows the lmg wasn't that great, but their hmgs were okay. Their AA and some of their Artillery was comparable to other countries. Obviously the only things Italy were really behind in was tanks (untill the P40 which would be used by germany) and Airplanes (although the folgore is fun). |
Re: French and Italians Ehh, gonna be great... Cant wait to see the 1940 Italians try to fight the 1940 French... "Tank!" "Where the heck is the Panzerfaust!?!?" "We dont get any AT weapons except tnt!" "Then...Sap it!" "But then they will shoot us... We cant get close enough" "Fine. Lets head to the boards to complain." |
Re: French and Italians I hope both, Italians and French will be in. I personally like the italian equipment. The Semovente kicks ass! Also cool tanks like L6/40, M11/39, M13/40, M14/41... And the Reggiane RE 2005 and Fiat G55 Centauro IMO were some of the best fighterplanes of WWII :nodding: http://exordio.com/1939-1945/picture...egiane2005.jpg http://www.jg27.de/g55.JPG |

Re: French and Italians mmm i too would love to see the FH version of monte cassino............ahh the wait....... ps. '~~~NEW HOMEMADE SIG~~~' |
Re: French and Italians The French were the toughest SoBs in Europe. They held out for as long as they could, but the German army's morale beat them in the end. Don't insult the French, you WILL be torn apart here. As for the Italians, they didn't want to be in WWII... that kind of accounts for their abysmal, albeit brave performances. |
Re: French and Italians not insulting the french army casue they probably were very good, but the government did surrender to the germans and helped them out, but there were the free french forces in britain and the french underground. And as for the italians, thats very right the people did not want to fight and most of the forces defending italy were SS or wehrmacht, but i still think it would be great to see italian maps and french maps with the french defending. but what id really like to see is aussies, but that'll never happen casue we never get recognition for anything. |
Re: French and Italians Yeah, love to see the AutoBlinda and the berreta mocheto in game for the Italians, even if it is only one map, it'd be nice to have one like Breakthrough's. *thinks canyons with AT guns and loadsa MG nests* |
Re: French and Italians Um....Italians hated Germans, so...why would they fight that hard as their ally? |

Re: French and Italians Yes, the AutoBlinda was a pretty good armored car; and a funny name for a reconunit :p Theese were probably the best Tanks the Italians produced in WWII: Carro Armato M14/42 (only 82 were produced and were later used by the Germans) http://www.buildingweb2.org/userdata...6593320041.jpg Carro Armato P40 (about 80 were produced and nearly all of them were used by Germany) http://www.buildingweb2.org/userdata...6593320042.jpg Semovente M42T 75/46 (only 15 were ever produced and for German service only) http://www.buildingweb2.org/userdata...6593320043.jpg You can see by the production numbers that Italy really had a lack of production-power. But i would love to see theese vehicles in FH (especially the Semovente), and if not under Italian command maybe in german service... Ofcourse there are other things to do first, but maybe in FH 0.99? |

Re: French and Italians the french were not the toughest sons of bitches in europe by any means! it would probably have to go to germany since they did take over france, poland, most of russia, denmark, holland (the list goes on) kicked us the british arses at dunkirk and put out a very good fight from 1944 to the final days of the 3rd reich. The russians were also tough sons of bitches but they arn't realy europe... in fact no country deserved the title of toughest in my opinion. They all sacrificed a lot for the war.As for the french and italians in fh this would be cool! i look forward also to a dunkirk map with brits vs germans early on in the war! |
Re: French and Italians I play french in ww2ol so I am very familar with all their equipment. In the real BOF (battle of france, which was in 1940, also called blitzkreig) the french had poor command. The germans massed their armor to support their infantry. The french spread their tanks out so the infantry did not have a lot of tank support. French tanks, mainly b1 bis and S-35 were almost immune to the under powerd german 37mm guns on the pz38t and pzIII. THe pzIV with its 75mm gun fared better but not much. Most Char's were taken out by 88's or due to poor maintenence broke down and ran out of fuel. Also the roads were packed with refugees which made it hard for the french to move. Gamlin (the french commander at the time) was an old foggy. He used motorcycle's to send messages back and forth rather then use a radio. He had no clue on modern tactics. THey did not listen to Charles De Gaulle who told them the exact tactics the germans were using. Also french's biggest reserve army was sent into holland to help stop a attack up there. The attack didnt come through belguim or holland, it came through sedan. Thats where the 7th army was in reserve. France outnumberd germany in Armor and infantry during the BOF. Germany ruled the skys most of the time due to them bombing the french and british planes on the air field. Also the french did not have a good air support doctrine for its ground troops. The stuka's really but a hurting on the french armor. Ah, I could go on and on. Sorry. Here is a guncam from ww2ol with me in the Dewotine D.520. The french planes were not that bad actually. You will need divx codec 5.1.1 Guncam Also here is one from the bell14a, aka p-39. bellguncam |
Re: French and Italians [QUOTE=vexx0r] Quote:
1) Yes, Germany lost men in WW1. They took out their rage by forming the Nazi government and restrengthening their army. 2) 'what did franchies do to Germany as victors of WW1?' - I'm sorry? Are you implying the winner automatically is better off? France and Britain took incredible causalties, as did Germany, but the French took so much military and economic damage it's difficult to comprehend. 3) 'as for "They had just as good of tanks as the germans, more tanks if you combine the bef" all I can say huh? I must have feel asleap in that history clas...' - a) Learn to spell, it makes you look like you might be saying something intelligent. b) Yes, the French tanks were actually BETTER than the German ones, the Char B1 Bis and the Somua S35 (inspiration for the sherman) were excellent and vastly superior to what the Germans used. The BEF was the British Expeditionary Force, the British Army in France. They had pretty crappy tanks, but when they worked with the French, they were actually pretty successful. 4) 'as for italian and french army WOOT ARMY?' - I'm assuming you're saying 'wot army' here. Well, let's see, and army usually consists of a force of men and equipment used to fight off an invader or fight offensively. Well, I think the French and Italians had those. You are an anti-French racist. I can see it in the way you type, you take it for granted that everyone hates the French so they will agree with you. Well, that may work in Hillbilly High or wherever you obtain your abysmal education, but I doubt it will here. Good day to you. |
Re: French and Italians Quote:
Why the hell would oyu want a Dunkirk map? It would be about as tasteful and fun as DC producing a suicide bomber map! I look forward to some early war French v Germans and British v German fighting, but fighting at Dunkirk would be boring and impossible. I'm sorry, let me get this straight: You want a map where the British objective is to evacuate all their men, and the Germans have you slwol drive toward the beaches, shooting all in their path? Hmmm, who's going to have more fun? I doubt either side would enjoy themselves that much. |
Re: French and Italians As I predicted.....army/country bashing. Calm down and be careful what you say, or you will struck by Lightning ;) |
Re: French and Italians I'm not bashing countries mate, I sincerely hope you're not accusing me of that. |
Re: French and Italians Not exactly, but you could also ignore comments bashing the french and we all could be living happily along :D |
Re: French and Italians Yes Meadow, please calm down, I don't want to close this thead. You might not be bashing countries but you are bashing other members. |
Re: French and Italians Aye... Its funny how France seems to take more heat for ww2 than germany... Everyone blames France for doing bad in ww2... You realize its america's fault? After ww1, France wanted to impose strong reparations and terms on germany, who would have been forced to accept them. America said no however, and compromised with the french. The germans were allowed an army of 100,000 and a demilitzarized Rhineland. They had reparations set, but no amount set. France in turn was supposed to recieve a defensive pact with Britain and America, to compensate. After it was all said and done, Senate refused to make the pact with france, and britain turned its back as well, so France was screwed from every direction. Also, France had strong naval confines, as for every american ship, they could only build like 1.75 ships(I might be wrong about this, read about it before when looking up french naval stuff). About a year or two before ww2, the French government nationalized the air manufacturing, and instead of strengthening it, it got thrown into disarray, only coming together right before 1940. The french werent able to produce enough of their good planes(Leore et Oliver 451, D.520, Breguet 681[Wrong number], Farman F.222, etc). The British expeditionary force had the Matilda II, a wonderful tank in 1940, but not in big numbers. Only in concentrated amounts like Arras did they do well. Also, the British promised France lots of air support for the BOF, yet there was only little. It may have come through if the french had withheld longer, but it didnt. In BOF, the Mobile Flak88 is the only german friend. The italians are just screwed :P |
Re: French and Italians OK this is wierd. This thread is asking when the french and Italians are coming out. I thought to myself "There is a map with the French" but I did not know its name. So I loaded up battlefield and looked for it. I could not see it at all. I could have SWORN on my life that there was one there. Did I dream that? (wont be the first time). I remember going through a few maps I hosted to myself to see the new maps and I could have sworn the french was in one. Anyway, I remembered that the French had a different grenade and the map was buggy. I remembered that I took a Screenshot of a floating German AA gun. http://www.bonedaddy.net/Pasquill/frenchscreen.jpg Could someone explain this to me? This is not a doctored picture. |
