If you're running XP, you should have configured it the first time you logged in. I would Google "Windows XP Firewall" and I'm sure you could find some information about that. As for your router, most common routers have a web interface that you can use to change settings. I would consult your specific router's manual, and if you don't have it, do a search for it and I'm sure you'll find it.
EDIT: I would stick with the default port of 6881 -- no one port is going to be faster than the others. |
