After a failed attempt at the conquest of Moscow, Hitler decided to make a push toward southern Russia during the summer of 1942. His main goal was to take over the Caucusas oil fields to the East of the Black Sea push North toward Moscow from there. Early in this campaign, the Germans had lots of success and one of their biggest victories came with the conquest of the Crimean port city of Sevastopol in June of 1942. This and other victories built German confidence and led to the Eastern push toward the decisive battle in Stalingrad.
The Battle of Sevastopol would make a cool conquest map with the Germans starting from their main base to the West and pushing towards the heavily defended coastal city. The Germans would have lots of artillery and air support while the Soviets would rely on bunkers, positioning, machine gun placements, and maybe even a battleship to hold back the invasion. Cool nice stuff such as German heavy artillery and Soviet Black Sea Fleet marine skins could be implemented.
Another interesting fact: We all know about the heroics of Stalingrad sniper Vassili Zaitsev, but the Battle of Sevastopol was the setting for a Soviet female sniper who is credited with killing a record-setting 309 German soldiers. Her story and more about the battle can be found here...

sounds boring to me atm, too much heavy german arty and a russian battleship would have to be modeled for a map that would mainly be a positional warfare, maybe much later..
Sounds like a new tobruk like map. Could be cool, it would be cool if they linke dthe bunkers togethger with underground passageways
There would be a bunch of bunkers in the outskirts of the city, but the rest of it would be a bunch of torn up buildings and a harbor. Here, this shows the city's geographic placement (it's in red).
The city can be to in the south, with a small seashore to the west. The harbor would be in the northern part of the city where the inlet is. German positions could be North and East of the city.
Here's a view of a part of the seashore as it is now. As you can see, the area has a rather warm climate which would be a change from most of the other Eastern front maps.

Positional warfare is the most exciting there is in BF. I personally find it booring driving around a map all the time, taking a flag here and there, and do the same thing backwards, because someone has taken the flag on the other end.
I really like the sound of that map. It would probably llok a bit like Tobruk, only with a more Urban setting around it. Also I like the idea of the battleship in the harbour for artillery support (just make sure it has a line of fire and isn“t blocked by buildings).
Make sure to add alot of Bunkers and Trenches for desperate defensive battles with plenty of cover.
Also force the Germans to use Artillery, it really adds to the flair...
