Here you have US service personall complaining that their new "slap rounds" just weren't able to get the enemy down , several shots had to be fired to get a kill. The bullets would go right tru the bodies.

Then that book is total garbage !

Both 5.56 and 7.62 mm rounds fired from most assault rifles fly at supersonic speed. The bullit shape and size only make a hole of the same size in the human body, it is the supersonic shockwave that tears apart the flesh, organs and bloodvessels wide that kills. The shockwave of a little 5.56 mm bullit can tear a hole size of a fist inside the body.

In mil. service i once was asked ( they call it that, but in fact it was an order ) to shoot at living pigs with a 7.62 mm FAL rifle. That was for an exercise for medic personell, to simulate wounds caused in war. We had to shoot the pigs in the section behind their chest and in their rear body as much as possible. I will spare you the details what that felt like, the screaming of the mortally wounded pigs was horrible, it wasn't funny at all. The medic personell and doctors then tried to patch the pigs up so they would survive their wounds for at least 24 h. I can tell you few pigs survived that amount of time, the bullits caused too much damage. ( the shockwave tearing effect i explained earlier )

Pistol and smg that use pistol ammo cause less damage, because that ammo is sub sonic and won't tear a huge surface of tissue apart, but make only a hole. ( they can do nasty things too if they bounce off the bones ) But with modern smg and pistols like those of FN the diffrence between assault rifle ammo damage becomes less and less.

Isn't there a .con file that you needed to change to be able to see servers? You had to change the game ID line from "FH" to "Forgotten Hope" or something.. (?) I sometimes get nothing from other mods either.. ingame browser bug probably. Usually I have to wait a few minutes for all the FH servers to list up. But it's worth it, next time I go to the browser, the old list is still there, I hit refresh "et voila" and theres my new list within a minute. :)

Yeah, imagine that. DC has 4000 servers and 7000 players online. FH has 15 servers and ~100 people online. Tell me, what would YOU rather play? Keep in mind that FH has some shining jewels of servers like 21st Panzer where the admins are 8 years old and ban you for killing them! Or Wolf, with no tk-punishment or kicking, where a single noob can ruin an entire game! Or the BFE server also staffed by ignorant smacktard idiots [22RN] who would rather kick people for cussing than TKing. Especially if the Tker is on the other team.

DC != (does not equal) shit and that's why there's thousands of people playing it. It's a great mod. And when .6 comes out, IF it comes out, no one is even going to care anymore. They're all playing DC now, because FH lagged way behind on getting an essential patch out that would keep it's interest alive through DC6, and through Christmas.

By the way, the Little Bird freakin owns. And DC is getting a LOT better with teamplay. Rarely do you see Hinds without nosegunners or empty blackhawks. DC has enginieered something that genuinely rewards teamplay. The Nosegunners dont suck anymore, blackhawk NEEDS gunners or it's stinger bait, artillery just plain looks sweet so people call for it.

Re: Where is everybody.

I play DC regularly although usually it ends in a lot of frustrations, when I played 0.38 I found it pretty good the noobishness and smacktard levels were tolerable but now it's just too much to see everybody walking around with a saw or pkm and just spray and pray. I haven't played one round on Sea Rigs where someone of the opposition didn't get in the defensive guns of the carrier. And I haven't played one single round with at least some decent teamwork. Teamkilling for the ah-6 seems to be going on everywhere. Lately I'm getting called a cheater because I'm pretty good with the SU.
This sort of things and the performance issues of DC causes me to play it less then I used to do. It takes no skill to be good in DC, just get a little bird/tank/su (depending on the map you play) and you can dominate a map. Whereas in FH tanks are taken out easily, planes are harder to fly and harder to kill with, as an infantry men you can turn a battle around on your own. And maybe the most important aspect DC has not the great atmosphere like WW2 and Vietnam mods/games have. After you played with the new goodies for a couple off days it gets boring.

Re: Where is everybody.

WW2 has been done to death. Fully realistic WW2 has been almost done to death as well. It's a fad in the game community and it won't hold unless it has some good games to back it up (which it does). Call of Duty, bf1942, WW2OL, all of those are good games, which is why more and more clones are appearing of the WW2 genre.
