| it's been exactly 1 week since the 200K milestone. That in itself is a milestone IMO. Kakao Stats - Team Members - Forgotten Hope Community Folding@Home Forgotten Hope Community - Team Summary - EXTREME Overclocking Folding @ Home Stats A little news update since 200K... We have been consistant top performer in the "moving up" catagory as reported by HarapAlb in the 200K thread. All week we have held both top spots in "Change in 24 hours" and "Change in 7 Days". We recently have a contender that is moving up fast.... "Crusty's". We are currently keeping them at bay for the first time in a few days. Change in 24 hours: Folding @ Home Teams Overall Rank - EXTREME Overclocking Folding @ Home Stats Change in 7 days: Folding @ Home Teams Overall Rank - EXTREME Overclocking Folding @ Home Stats We're averaging over 12K points per day. Special thanks to kaffenor with his 2-machine quad core contributions, and bobab, Mr.BlOnd, Maximus, and now J Fin for their SMP contributions. Very special thanks to every contributor that is sticking it out and and contributing points continuously. We've already had quite a few members try it out then quit. Looking at some of the more estabished teams, I guess this is a pretty common. Folding isn't for everyone. Welcome to the newest members: OTH_Target IcelanDick gonzo Sunsnapper foodmaniac2003 silian bukowski J_Fin Graven74 On a personal note. I've added a PS3 and a dedicated Quad Core to the mix. I was expecting 2 quad cores but the PSU on the main machine was DOA... I have to go thru the RMA bullshit before I get that running. The Quad plus PS3 should be good for about 4500 points per day extra for the team. Since I can't monitor the PS3 thru FahMon, I won't know the exact PPD for a few days. The Quad is turning in exactly 2 SMP WU's every 24 hours... first ones dumped last night. I only got the Quad OC'ed to 2.8.. I'll experiment to getting it over 3.0 this weekend. Good job all! |

| Congrats on your new quad core Rad. Did you get the Q6600? And if so I assume you got a G0 stepping? I get about 1720 ppd on a dual core at 3 GHz using the Windows client if I do not use the machine for anything else (but I usually do other stuff on the computer from time to time). You get a bit more than that on each pair of cores running at 2.8 GHz which is amazing enough. Are you using the Linux client? |

I'm getting about 1775 ppd per client. Comes out to almost exactly 24 hours between WU's. Spoiler: I'd like to get a little more out of it but might not be possible. My $79 Micro ATX EVGA board (I got becasue of the DVI onboard video) doesn't have dual channel memory support. I didn't notice this when I bought it. I got some good g-skill overclocking dual channel ram for it, but I guess it's going to waste. I need to read some more about Overclocking this thing. It's got so many adjustable variables that my old Asus boards never had. Anyway, this folder was basically a challange to get a good dedicated folder for ~$500. It's pretty no-shitter. Just board, CPU, Ram and PSU. I did splurge a bit and got a 500gb HD for it so I can double duty it for file storage. Spoiler: Right now I'm just running the Windows SMP clients with the affinity changer. I plan on either installing ubuntu on a 2nd partition or running VMware with ubuntu. Right now I just want to get it OC'ed a little more and stable before I start messing around with linux. That I'm sure is going to take a day of reading to get up and going since I'm such a linux noob. Anyway, I'm hoping my 2nd quad build will go better. At least the motherboard is much better. It will be double duty as my game machine & I'm installing SLI 8800GT cards in it. it's also is a Q6600 but this one is watercooled. The PSU bit the dust on bench testing so I have to wait for my RMA to come back. After I get these set up I'll build my big toy :P I won't announce that one yet since my wife is already bitching at me about the money. I may have to hit a happy medium between what I want to get and what my wife will allow me to get :P |

| I say you get very good scores from a CPU clocked at 2.8. The only differences I see are that I have Intel's bastard child, the e4400, which has half the cache of its bigger brothers, and that most likely you have fewer processes running in the background since for me this is the main desktop machine at home. I am curious which factor accounts for most of that difference. Quote:
Is that the Arctic Freezer 7 on your CPU? Not that many variables that you need to change when OC-ing. Keep your voltages at stock levels and increase your FSB. Increase voltages only if the system is not stable, but I think you should be able to reach 3 GHz on stock voltages. The other thing you need to consider is the memory multiplier. Make sure you lower it initially to be within its specifications, to eliminate memory as a source of stability issues. If the system is stable you can then increase the memory clock slightly to a level with which you are comfortable. You are fairly close to 3GHz now (FSB from 311 to 333). You may want to monitor your temperatures initially. You can run Intel TAT after OC-ing to check how high your temps can go. If you want to do some extra reading here is a guide to understanding the temps. It is pretty dense though. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/22...perature-guide |

| Wow, I better get my Q6600 going once I get it. *edit: damn is that an XFX xxx8800GT 512mb 670Mhz and 1.95Ghz video card? I just got the same one. A little random but what the heck. Last edited by Coca-Cola; January 2nd, 2008 at 06:21 AM.. |

| It's the 640Mhz version. The 670Mhz was out of stock. I had ordered 2 of them, but newegg only sent one with a note on the package slip saying only one was available. They didn't even put me on backorder, instead they credited my card back. I spent most of last week trying to find another 640Mhz with no luck so last night I ordered 2 of the newer 8800GTS 512's with the same G92 GPU as the GT. I'll be sticking the GT in my X38 backup machine since it can't do SLI anyway. Kinda bummed that I won't be using single slot cards in the SLI |
