| Hey guys, I've started a Folding@Home team for the forgotten Hope community. I really could use some help. Team: ForgottenHope_Community (#84762) Folding@Home For those that don't know what Folding@Home does... It's distributed computing to fold protiens for scientific medical research. The computer simulations are better helping researchers understand diseases such as cancer, alzheimers, Parkinsons and many more. People from all over the world are folding to create one huge super computer. Any computer CPU will do it. Even some ATi video cards and Play Station 3 will fold. It's don't in the background and when your CPU isn't using CPU cycles so it dosn't slow you down on day to day computing, but advised to shut it down when gaming. More info can be found here: Folding@home - Main to DL the client, go to Folding@home - Download and follow the instructiond for whichever client you choose to install. I personally am running the text-only non-graphical client. I run the standard client in self launching mode on one machine. Running it as a service on my daughters machine (so she can't shut it off )... and I'm running a SMP client that takes advantage of 2 processors on my dual xeon computer. This can be run on Core 2 duo's also for a much higher point per day. I've also got a GPU client running on a X1950 video card that's just cranking out the points. If you have a PS3, you can DL the client for it also. You would become king of the team if you had one because the PS3 hauls ass on F@H. I've been folding for another team for a few months now and just switched over to the Forgotten Hope Team. I hope other FH fans that might be on other teams will come help us out. Unfortunatly you can't transfer your old points, so it will take a bit of commitment to start over from scratch. I'm hoping to get enough interest in this that we could offer some incentives (prizes) or something for the effort. Anyway, hoping to see you guys on the team Thanks, Rad out |

| forgot to mention... A real nice program for tracking your folding progress is FahMon. Download here: Download | FahMon ![]() It easily stats your progress of each client you have running. Gives you the PPD (Points per day) average and gives you links to the team and personal stats. Must have for even running one client. |

| hmmm.. the dumbed down version: download: http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg...ws-Console.zip Unzip to a directory of choice.. run the .exe 1) when it asks for user name, put in whatever you want to be displayed as 2) when it asks for team put in 84762 3) answer [defaults] to all the rest of the questions and you will be folding for Forgotten Hope. After that, you can tweak the client to give you bigger WU's, or you can get the SMP client, GPU client, whatever. I guess those are all advanced but not needed for now. |

| Is this like SkyNet, and is it gonna terminate us all in 10 years? D: But in all serious, like what does it do? It downloads what?
