Yes, but we will all be dead in 10 years so what does that matter?

It downloads a work unit. Your CPU works on the unit and sends it back Stanford University after a couple days when it's complete. A Complete list of currunt projects can be found here:

Folding@Home

you would be downloading one of these projects. You can check this page and see what your project involves by clicking on the "description" link.

You get points (credits) for each work unit as you complete it. Based on the amount of credits your Work Unit (WU) is worth. The stats are like a ladder. The more credits you earn the higher you go on the ladder.

It's all for a good cause. we are helping cure diseases! even skynet diseases!

It easily stats your progress of each client you have running. Gives you the PPD (Points per day) average and gives you links to the team and personal stats. Must have for even running one client.
I'm having trouble getting this to work, dumbass's version?

Very cool guys!

at about 300,000 points we will start getting tracked by Extreme Overclocking. They have the best tracking with graphs, and conquests, etc. They only track the top 2000 teams though. It really shouldn't take too long to get up there if we can get some serious folders on the team. If any9one knows someone with a PS3 then get them for fold for us . PS3's really rake in the points.

Here's an example of how they track.. this is my old folding team:

FahMon is quite easy... after you install, right click on the upper Left window which will be blank when you install it. Select "Add new client" then just direct it to the directory your F@H client is in. Name it and click OK, you should now have the client running in FahMon. To add networked clients, just direct it to your clients on the remote computer. You need to have those drives shared of course.

*edit* it's now yellow, which is progress i guess.

Also too bad about the PS3, won't be getting one since even at $400 they are too damn expensive, though if I came across a refurbished cheap ass one, then maybe I might.

Has your client started? Is the box on the left of your client red or yellow? If it is yellow, it just means it hasn't got enough information yet to start stating. You need to finish at least 2% before it starts logging your status.

If it's red it means you have a problem with your F@H client itself. what does the dos window for the client say?... it should give you an error if you are having one.

btw to all: A WU can take anywhere from 12 hours to 3+ days to complete. The status window will show the progress every 1% (100 per WU). This really isn't something you sit and watch. Once the client starts, you just let it do it's thing. Typically if you are running just one client on a regular P4 3.0ghz CPU, it's going to take about 2-3 days. Running the client on an SMP will take about the same but give you almost 4 times the points. Same with the GPU client, but since it's only working on 330 point WU's it only takes it about 12 to 14 hours to complete.
