It's no need. It's a whim.

I don't like smileys, this is why I resort to square brackets. :]
Anyway, I thought that the setting would toggle all smileys - no matter who posts them.

I don't need to stop myself from posting colourful faces, It's everyone else that is a problem.

It's just when you post. Can't you adblock the smiley folder?

I hadn't thought of that, interesting idea. Of course that would leave me with blanks not :)'s where people smile, but at the very least I can block off all the ridiculous ones with guns and whatnot.
