Would definatly be what we are talking about when we talk about specialty maps.

And such a map can only work if it is not of the typical flag-getting style.
I'd probably go about designing it in such a way that the flags and their spawn points would not be at the same spot.
Example:
Push style map.
One fixed spawn on allied side.
3 flag points, initially in the hands of the germans. One flag on the side to the allies (A), one on the center (B) and one on the german side (C).
But the spawns are one shifted one over:
A spawns at B, B spawns at C and C spawns at the german camp.
Opposite for the allies (their base is not spawn A in this case but a little farther back)

Initially this would allow the Germans to secure the bridge first but also means that the defenders of the flag will not spawn next to the people capturing.

But I have no idea if that would even work in the BF2 engine.
I would prefer a reverse of the only captureable once style flag: The axis hold the position and can spawn, but only they can. When the allies cap, they cannot spawn there. I know something like that was possible in BF42 because DC had a map that did it.

ya i know that map in DC, but they should aim twords making it like in the movie have the germans start of with no flag at all in the outer streets of the city and work there way to the bridge , but just bringin the map in from original forgotten hope would be awsome that maps all ready perfect

Hi everybody.

A map about the battle at Bloody Ridge ( or Edson`s Ridge) at Guadalcanal would be cool.

It would be a night map and push map with the japanese attacking the marine positions at the ridge, there would be lots of cliche banzai charges for the japanese and "hold-this-position-to the-last-man" for the marines.

Sound good ey!

@Cotton:
Wassn't Ramelle the bridge the Germans wanted to blow up but failed?
In that case the Germans had the bridge but lost it.
Or am I thinking of a different one?

Edson's Ridge map would be simply fantastic. The Pacific has generally been shortchanged in BF (I mean, really, Guadalcanal in a single tiny-ass map like that). IIRC, XWW2 has an Edson's Ridge map that is very good. Also I believe the Pacific add-on to the MOH series had an Edson's Ridge map which made me feel like I was being overrun!

You're right about the scenario. The Marines were armed with only 03's, Thompsons, grenades, officers' 1911 .45s,, bayonets, knives, and perhaps 1 mg. (3 was RL, but a map would have a much smaller number of attackers, so more than 1 Marine mg would seem unfair.) Limited kits of shotguns or M1 carbines for the Marines, who should be heavily outnumbered for accuracy's sake.

For the Japanese it would be the standard rifles, light mgs, offensive grenades and the officers' pistols and swords, with the smg as a limited kit. I don't think there was any heavy mg support for the Japanese, but I forget about mortars.

This feels like a map in which rifles are almost useless except as some place to stick a bayonet. It will be dark, and it should be pistols, tommyguns, shotguns, grenases and bayonets. Chaos!
-----------------------------

There's another event which I wonder could be made into an FH map - The Dambusters. Operation Chastise was the famous night attack in May, 1943 by RAF Heavy Bomber Squadron 617 on several Ruhr Valley dams. Using the specially made bombs which looked very much like large depth charges, the 15 or so Halifaxes flew just 60 feet over reservoirs or lakes to "skip" the bombs into the dams. The dams were protected by literally hundreds of AA guns, from 7.92mm mgs to 88mm Flak guns, with most guns being the 20mm, 37mm and 40mm rapid-fire guns.

I know this would be a highly specialized and difficult map to make, with unique problems for gameplay. As it nowis in FH, to make a bomber fly straight down a path lined by dozens of AA guns would be a slaughter. Even though the bombers kept most of their own defensive mgs and crew to man them for suppression fire, that would hardly be enough to knock out more than a handful of AA emplacements.

So something would have to be done to give the bombers a chance. Possibly add distance or fog/smoke to obscure the planes (we'd also have to make a Halifax!), nerfing the AA guns, overpowering the planes' guns, giving the planes fighter overwtahc for suppression, etc. It might be "un-mappable", or unrecognizable for all the changes to history, or just not fun if too much nerfing was done. Still, I'd like to see it!

no, there were a few bridges crosing that river but all were blown up but 2 buy the americans, to cut off german support to omaha beach, the germans needed ramelle bridge to cross over to the other side, if the tanks were 2 touch the bridge the allies would have blown it up
