Can there be soft sand areas. What could be done in such maps as Iwo Jima and indeed, in some desert areas could be this: The ground becomes very rough at some points and there is a thin layer of invisible soil on top (Actually ground you can see but would pass through). This layer would be very thin so that people passing through it don’t look knee deep in invisible ground (Also to prevent people using it as complete concealment). Its point is to give the false impression about a smooth terrain whiles the lower rough makes it very hard for vehicles to maneuver through such areas. What would be seen would be vehicles passing through about 2 or 3 inches of soil. Although people would also pass through it, the lower rough would barely slow their movement (It might), and would be too thin to look weird, and anyone lying flat in it would be almost fully visible. The only thing that can be completely concealed in soft earth is a grenade and that wouldn’t be that much of a bother, I hope… since such areas don’t exist everywhere…The point is to create areas where vehicles may be forced to linger behind leaving infantry without support (As was the case in such places as Iwo) but this might also be handy in desert areas of same effect.
Cool idea, it'd be interesting to see if it'd be possible to allow for at least partial concealment (as it's easier than destructible terrain, and sand/snow are not that hard to dig into.)
And you must know it well, since you are being trained as psycho killer in the marines, seals, rangers or any other of those organizations for dudes with Peter Pan syndrom
I was watching flag of our fathers (Yer, yer, just a Hollywood movie), but it made me remember that fact of Iwo, the tanks had issues moving up... The nI go and play FH Iwo and apart from the sheer size and the fact that the Ship can barely hit the island accurately (Goddamn bots), we had com[plte tank battles that were just sickening to see since I never really imagine iwo that way....
I remember when I had to catch up on the rest of my platoon during the movie. We were having a haircut when we were called out to the beach for filming. The guys that were done with the haircut headed for the beach, but I was stuck in the chair, until the hairdresser stopped and told me to run after them. Throwing my gear on, Garand in one hand (fake :\) and my helmet in the other, I started running after my platoon.. And Boy, that was anything but easy.
When you thrust your foot down and backwards, 50% of the power and speed went into the sand. I ran for 200 meters (amazing achivement at the time.. ) but felt like 500 meters (or in my perspective at the time 52 miles ).. Running in that thing is a bitch. Maybe one could disable sprinting in the wet/soft sand, or slow infantry down somehow?
RedSand was temporarily banned for 2 weeks for posting Nazi related images, which we have zero tolerance for.
Which now has been upgraded to permanently due to a ban evasion.
