Default Ships size and troop transport

Can Troops and landing crafts be exclusively on troop carrier ships and not on all ships? Instead of LCVP etc on Battleships and Aircraft carriers as was the case in BF42, could there be lifeboats instead (Slow moving, unarmed and unarmored boats for bailing out)

Also can ships be as life sized as is the case in BF2 (The aircraft carrier) without them being restricted to static objects? Because I have always seen the ships in BF42 as woefully under scaled.

I hope (and asume) so. The silly landingcrafts acting as lifeboats was something from BF1942 vanilla. Shouldn't be too hard to add a proper lifeboat when they do model ships for FH2...

I dont see why not, as long as the mod its on is big enough to encompass it

Keep in mind though, walking ontop of a moving ship is less then smooth, you get all kinds of glitching, and lag, and players bouncing around....If youve ever played 2142 its like being on the titan while its moving but on a much grander scale since your moving much faster.....

it would be great if you guys could make it so the life rafts float up after the ship sinks (like the rafts from PT boats in the older version of bf1942 when after it sunk the raft on the bow floated up and you got to drive away but after a while it sunk too)

great idea

But doesn't the sheer size of the ship in BF2 (were it a vehicle) make i cause serious lag. I'd hope not cuz I'd really love to have that in, but I'm imagining an ocean with that and a proper sized battleship and troop transport ship - All vehicles... I dunno how good the BF2 engine is compared to BF1, but would that be possible?

If I remember some time in September ctz put up a picture of a Wake Island 2007 alpha file he made with the Ark Royal which didn't cause any lag. Of course it might be different if there were 64 people running around on it.

"Victory after all, I suppose! Well, it seems a very gloomy business."

Was the ark Royal as big as the carrier in BF2... and was it a vehicle? Cuz that's my fear....Although, if it were possible...* Voice fades*

* Suddenly, Getting all bright eyed, shaking uncontrollably and gesticulating excitedly*
" Massive ships, men unloading constantly from the troop carrier nearby, air crafts like tiny specs flying all around, black smoke clouds apearing here and there (flak actually), the sound of the AAs and defense guns intermittent amidst the ear shattering BOOOM and WHII-WhoooSH as ship fires agaist ship and misses or WHIII-WhuMP as ships get hit and huge plumes of fire and smoke burst out here and there..."

But the idea, already seems to cause lag in my head... I dunno, It'll be heaven to see, but I sure hope the devs can pull it off - After all, BF2 took away my firing with bayonet attacks and random headgear, it sure as Hell better giv us something back for it...

i guess no lag since in sea maps ships are the only stuffs, just imagin that you are facing a island, e.g. wake 2007 , the island is more complex than a ship and you didn't lag

But how many Sea maps can exist...No relief features= no uniqueness. Maybe ,a coral sea kind map, maybe a Rheinubung kind map, but no more than that. The beauty is in the combination - An Iwo-style map...
And don't forget, even in all sea maps, there are 64 people running around with their complete detail and ratio to the massve ships that may cause an issue as well as the number of ships and perhaps even planes.
I really want ships to be full sized like the static one is in BF2, but I fear the combination would require some real mastery in coding and designing.

*perhaps, mobile ships with islands involved, static ships with vehicle guns on them and strategic spawn points in sea-land maps? When you need to manouver and have strategy with ships, they need to move, where they simply act as gun platforms and people and plane START points, they dont? I'm just trying not to ask for more than can be... Cuz I really, really hate the midget boats in BF1
