If you do want the shizz check out the "Parhelia" video card from Matrox.
Ugh... You might be able to connect a lot of screens on this, but you won't even be able to OPEN BF2, let alone play FH without a slideshow. This card is older, and slower, than my granma.

I wouldn't mind getting some nice flat 21" CRT with some very high refreash rates, it's a petty that they're being driven out by technologically newer, but worse LCDs.

I don't see the logic behind LCD screens myself CRT flat screens are much cheaper, and still better most of the time. Of course they are bigger and heavier, but that isn't that much of a problem for a damn screen that probably won't be moved more than twice a year, isn't it?

A more realistic flight model would be really nice but I sometimes I get the feeling that people forget they're playing a Battlefield game. Whether you're a tanker, pilot or like to control a submarine Forgotten Hope cannot change the core gameplay of Battlefield 2 from an arcade FPS game to a hardcore war simulator.

On your point about having a better view, alot of the cockpits had very restrictive views. By pressing control you can by the way look around in BF2, you can't control the plane when you're doing this but it's usefull to spot someone.

Haha I think the most expensive thing of that setup is the annual power bill.

Thanks for the great sig Braun!

Very true. 4x AGP? Bah. I think there is a new one, I did see one that had pci-e but I didnt look into it. For years this was going to be my card, but thay have been so outpaced. I beleive they may have a small unit that works with any vid cards but I havent researched.

Before yes, they were just too expensive. But now much different. I bought my 17" about three years ago for $400!!! Nowadays it'd be just over $100. Viewsonic makes a 19" with a 2ms response time. Thats phenominal still under $300.

Signature removed. Please read the rules.

In my opinion arguments like bigger production of heat, power consumption and size are just silly in most cases. Monitor is not meant to be carried much, the one that has biggest benefits of their size are ones who have to store them, mainly shops. Heat produced by it isn't affecting you anyway, power consumption will be most likely much lesser in comparison to that new graphics card requiring mobo and exterior power delivery with all other new hardware. I don't know how about you, but i haven't heared about people who coludn't afford pcs in times of CRTs jsut because monitor drained too much electricity.
LCDs are rather alternative (very useful in certain cases, I do admit!) wich is more expensive and brings lesser quality for bigger price.

Sorry for going so much off-topic.

Uh, I have a ton of other crap to do on my desk besides share it with a massive honker monitor. I'm really glad for the extra space for other things of secondary importance like, I dunno, WORK.

Uh, I have an office that gets sun all day in an already-warm apartment, plus a full-tower server, plus a PC, plus a laptop, plus lamps (can't work in the dark), plus diverse electronic crap. Every little bit helps.

Um, that doesn't mean I want a clunky beast that eats power on top of all the other stuff you mentioned. "Hey, this truck is using a lot of gas anyway, let's pour some on the floor just for giggles."

Um, I paid as much for my 21" Sony LCD (very good buy) as for my last CRT, a 17" Iiyama Visionmaster Pro. You should be able to pick up a hot-as-shit, reasonably large LCD for less than $600. Yes, you can get a 15" CRT for 20 bucks on eBay, but...

Upshot? Nothing wrong with a CRT if you're not bothered about any of the above factors, but aside from that, I'd always pony up for one.

Your arguments fully support your opinion and you're in one of cases I mentioned that have more benefits form LCD, if it's an office work then it's definately it. I agree with all except power use, it's just not bigger enough imo to be a factor here, besides for all these little 'lessernesses' you get better visual quality, ofcourse on good models.

yeah, how about there be a pilot class to fly planes... and a player gets booted from the class if he crashes it within 10 seconds (at least for a time limit). They can practice flying in single player...

because I would hate getting into a cargo plane w/ some people, expecting the pilot to be at least half decent with transportation, and then crashing and killing about 10 people on the runway because it's his first or second time.

or if you don't want a pilot class, have your skin change once you enter a plane's cockpit to fly it. That might look cool but... useless since I'd rather see more infantry on the field than leather beanies and goggles.
