Finland guns

Then when you are making the eastern front, I hope that you could put an effer on finnish guns.
In original FH, Finland have mosin nagant-rifle.
That must be replaced with m/27 "pystykorva"(used in winter war) or m/39 "Ukko-Pekka"(used in continunation war and war of Lapland).
Luger and Walther be must replaced with L-35 "Lahti" pistole
Maschinengewehr 34 (MG34)

Should be replaced with maxim.
M/26 "Lahti-Saloranta" would be nice too :)
m/31 "Suomi" is the only "real" finnish weapon.

I'm sorry about my really bad english.

Re: Finland guns

Fine for me, but to give them a puch against the German armor the
kiv/39 "Norsupyssy would be nice too, more an artillery piece then a gun, but can you say no to this?

I know i can't!

The Finnish did use the Mosin Nagant to a large extent. Forgotten Hope was not wrong to have them ulitize the Mosin Nagant as it was one of the most common rifles in service at the time.

Due to my understanding though, the Finns did not use the MG34 as often as they used the DP. I rather see them use the DP over the MG34 or MG42 anyway; this is more historically accurate. However, I would like to see a variety of pistols, specifically the P-08 Luger and or P-38 Walther as sidearms, for the Finnish.

The m/31 Soumi is a must however. Maybe a couple of MP40s from time to time for crews in German tanks, but that's it.

Re: Finland guns

Yes, Finland did use mosin nagant rifles, BUT m/27 was more common weapon.
Finland used DP very much, because it has bigger clips than m/26 (20 rounds).

In winterwar the most used rifle was Mosin Nagant, of Tsars army, not red army. Tsars armys rifle was M/91 the rifle in FH is M/91-30

Rifles of Winter War:
M91 http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kiv91.jpg About 41% of the rifles used were M91s
M91-24 http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kiv_M9124.jpg 10% of rifles used
M27 http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kiv27.jpg 22% of rifles used
M27 (used by cavalry) http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kiv27rv.jpg Less than 1% of rifles used
M28 http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kiv_M28.jpg 13% of rifles used
M28-30 http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kiv_M2830_oma.jpg A bit over 13% of rifles used

Finns also captured tens of thousands M/91-30, and thousands of Semi-automatick rifles, SIMONOV AND TOKAREV, these guns were taken in use instantly after capturing to replace crappy M/91

And these antique rifles still in use for some very unlucky units...

M/1895 Winchester: http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kiv_M95.jpg
M/1870 Berdan http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/Berdan_kiv.jpg
Navy Rifle M/02 Japanese http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kiv_M02.jpg

Note the dates these guns were from 1895, 1870, 1902...

In Continuation war Finns got some more M/28-30
And nearly 100 000 M39 rifles http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/M39_oma.jpg

"the Finns did not use the MG34 as often as they used the DP."

Yes thats true, In Continuation war DP was the most common LMG of finnish army, MG34 was extreamly rare and it would be right to say that Finns didnt use it at all.

" would like to see a variety of pistols, specifically the P-08 Luger and or P-38 Walther as sidearms, for the Finnish."

In winter war Luger was the most common pistol I think, so Luger is a must, in Continuation war Lahti is a must, with Luger :)

Finns used also Nagant revolvers, Tokarev pistols, Ruby pistol, FN high power (pilots used it), Mauser pistol, M/23 CZ , M/35 Beretta, M/19 Beretta, M/1910-22 FN and M/07 Husqvarna :D

It would be cool to have all those pistols

Does anybody have any information with Lahti-Saloranta M/26 Light machine guns in China?

China ordered 30 000 of these weapons, but only 1200 were sent to China in 1937. Maybe it can be included to the Chinese too.. :D

I am just defending FH's choice on ulitizing the M1891/30 Mosin Nagant. They were not technically wrong by giving them the M1891/30 as a main infantry rifle in FH1.

Heh, the M1895 Nagant and TT30 / TT33 should be easy to include because of the Soviet addition. The FN HP should be included with the addition of Commonwealth troops. If we see the Italians, the M1935 Beretta is a must.

Make a serverside for it and call it FH meets DOOM & Home and Garden TV.

LOL, a chainsaw would be a lot cooler than that stupid fillet knife the Fins use....

They were both main LMGs of Finland, in the begining of winterwar L-26 was the only LMG of Finland, but DPs we captured were taken in use immediately after capturing, in the end of Winter war it was as common, if not more common than L-26, in continuation war DP was clearly the most common LMG of Finnish army, but all L-26´s were still in use. :)

http://www.mosinnagant.net/images/Finn-Maxim-One.jpg

Suomi smg was the main smg of Finland through both wars, but in Winter war 1/5 of the smgs were bergmann smgs :) This could be added (with 50 round box magazine)

http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/kp_Bergmann.jpg

In winter war it was used in the front line, but in continuation war it was used by civil guard ...

Boys anti-tank rifle was the main anti-tank rifle of winter war, and lahti rifle was the main antitank rifle of continuation war :P

Soujiro June 6th, 2006 07:18 PM

Re: Finland guns

Some of them won't be that long because there would be some mixing of weapons from other countries. This is especially true when some of the captured arms from the Soviet Union exceeded the Finnish weapons in some of battles (ie. M1891/30 and its sniper counterparts or the M1895 Nagant).

Didn't the Soviets used the crappy PPD-34, PPD-34/38 and PPD-40 in the Winter War? When the PPSh-41 came into play, they replaced all of the PPD almost immediately.

Yep, and M/91, M/27 and M/28-30, M/39 can be modified from M/91-30 :)
From M/91-30 to M/91 = New sights
From M/91 to M/27 = New Front sights and a shorter stock & barrel
From M/27 to M/28-30 = New sights
From M28-30 to M/39 = Pistol-grip, thicker stock, new place for sling swivel, and new place for front sight.

And the Simonov rifle I mentioned can be modified from tokarev rifle.

And I beliave it wouldnt be to hard to modifie Luger a bit to make it look like Lahti pistol. :)

"Didn't the Soviets used the crappy PPD-34, PPD-34/38 and PPD-40 in the Winter War?"

Yes they had, but not in the front line, soviet leaders didnt believe in SMGs, so they rested in stores, after winter war they were taken in mas produktion, Suomi SMG had convinced them to believe that SMGs would be very usefull in new wars :) Instead of smgs Russians used semiautomatick rifles in large scales, whole units were armed with Tokarev and Simonov semiautomatick rifles

That's pretty impressive.

We just need:

AVS-36 Simonov
AVS-36-PE Simonov (AVS-36 with a PE scope)
AVT-40 Simonov
DK Degtyarev (an older version of the DShK)
DPM Degtyarev (a more modern DP that was adopted in 1943)
DShK-38 Degtyarev
M1891/30-PE Mosin Nagant (M1891/30 with a PE scope)
M1891/30-PEM Mosin Nagant (M1891/30 with a PEM scope)
M1891/30-PU Mosin Nagant (M1891/30 with a PU scope)
M1895 Nagant
M1910 Maxim
M1944 Mosin Nagant (Apperently, the M1938 Mosin Nagant is already done according to FaW)
PPD-34/38 (The PPD-34 is already done)
PPD-40
PPS-42 (this was initally produced before it was improved)
PPS-43
PTRD-41
PTRS-41
ROKS-2
ROKS-3
SG-43 Goryunov
SVT-38 Tokarev
SVT-38-PU Tokarev (SVT-38 with PU scope)
SVT-40 Tokarev
SVT-40-PU Tokarev (SVT-38 with PU scope)
TT-30 (The TT-33 is already done)

I think that's about all the missing Soviet small arms (not including explosives). Can anyone comfirm if the Red Army used the M1891 Mosin Nagant Cossack/Dragoon/Infantry rifles?

I trust that the German weapons would be largely taken care of during the North African release?
