Woah, NZ forces vs. Italian Forces at Monte Cassino? Italy had long been on the Allied side by the time the battle of Monte Cassino happened. In fact, the Italians were helping the Allies at Monte Cassino. Italy began peace talks after the fall of Sicily and switched to the Allied side immediately after the invasion of the Straits of Messina (Operation Baytown in BF1942). In any case, New Zealanders might be all right for the village of Cassino, but the monastery would best involve Polish soldiers in the battle.
And Australia vs. Free French in Syria? Uhhhh.... The Free French were on the Allied side. They helped the British take Syria. Do you mean the Vichy French by any chance? I don't know, but I think you're a tad confused as to the post-1940 French.
