Re: New Zealand?

My dream is to see an NZ North Africa map.

Re: New Zealand?

There is already 70+ maps in the next FH release (or so I have heard).

Given that the kiwis had some involvement i, why not make one map for them and make one map for the Aussies in Tobruk. Or the Aussies a map for the invasion of Singapore.

Doesn't sound like much, but given the numbers, one good map is enough to keep us Aussies happy. Besides, in FH2 there will be Australian involvement. There was barely any difference between the British and Australian armies, with the only major differences being uniform.

Re: New Zealand?

Don't forget the Owen smg and the Sentinel tank.

Unky Joe October 10th, 2005 01:13 AM

Re: New Zealand?

the sentinel was a nice tank, considering the aussies hadn't any tank building experience. it's a pitty the 17pdr wasn't used on it. was the sentinel put into service? please enlighten me. the owen was pretty much a copy of the sten.
there was a new zealand made sub machine gun, with a rate of fire of 1000 rounds per minute, that was going to replace the slower firing thompson and sten in the paficic, but i can't remeber its name and it never went into service.

spartanlegend October 10th, 2005 01:34 AM

Re: New Zealand?

The Owen was designed before the Sten gun became standard by a Inventor it wasn't a Australian Army request. The gun was also one of the most reliable guns of the war.
And to prove it look here
http://http://www.diggerhistory.info...eapons/omc.htm

Also the Sentinel was a decent tank consdering our experience. Also just out of Intrest we were one of the only allied countries not to use the Sherman

Just for Laughs why not make the Wirraway?

Re: New Zealand?

New Zealand is pretty safe compared to Australia as well. Over there everthing can kill you within 5 seconds because all the animals are highy poisonous... especially kangaroos.

Re: New Zealand?

If the NZers were to be in as a seperate army, then it would make most sense to have the Maori Battalion. They were highly trained in bayonet charges, probably more so than any other Allied unit. General Sir Bernard Freyburg, the General Officer Commanding of the 2nd NZEF, commented "No infantry had a more distinguished record, or saw more fighting, or, alas, had such heavy casualties, as the Maori Battalion."
