3 different but similar suggestions Hello, devs, fans, Romans........ There are 3 things I would like to suggest for our beloved mod. 1. The Panzerkampfwagon V Ausf. F F..http://pedg.org/panzer/public/website/images/p5f_1.jpgFor Alpenfestung. 2. The Churchill Crocodile. A normal Churchill but instead of hull MG, it has a flamethrower. It also towed a small tank for the FT fuel, which is possible through the machanics of the old 88. This is the British equivalent of the POA. http://www.valourandhorror.com/lib/V...php?koId=11862 3. If not the Crocodile, a Bren Gun Carrier equipped with an FT. Crap, can't find a pic of it, but i remember a clip on a history show where three of those were spraying something with flames, you couldn't see it because of all the fire and smoke. |
Re: 3 different but similar suggestions 2 Attachment(s) The Panther ausf F would be nice. The flamethrower Universal Carrier is called a Wasp Wasp Mk.II http://www.military.cz/panzer/tanks/...ge/wasp2_1.jpg http://www.military.cz/panzer/tanks/...mage/wasp2.jpg |
Re: 3 different but similar suggestions don't know if i'd want to be in/around a wasp when it gets hit. |
Re: 3 different but similar suggestions Thanks, but what about the Crocodile, and are there plans for implementing any of these vehicles? I would really like these, such as the Wasp. It would be like mounting a FT on a jeep, plus a teeny bi tof armor. |
Re: 3 different but similar suggestions I think the Crocodile would be best left to FH2. |
Re: 3 different but similar suggestions what the hell was the use with an Flamethrower on a such light armored vehicle like the Universal Carrier? :S I mean, a grenade in there, and WUPS there goes the entire vehicle... How many PzKpw V Fs were built? A crocodile would be cool yes! ;) |

Also grenades only had a max range of 30 meters (unlike in FH where they seem to have a max range of 60-80 meters.). I dont know the maximum range of the flamethrowers that the wasp carried but i consider it highly unlikely that a grenade would have a chance of taking it out. And dont forget that fire causes fear and has a high impact on morale. Think about it if you see a vehicle with a flamethrower firing in your direction then you (probably) would try to get the hell out of there. :nodding: I think it would be a pretty good idea to add it. And some more varieties of the Universel Carrier would be great aswell. |
Re: 3 different but similar suggestions It is my understanding that in Europe just seeing a flmethrower vehicel being moved up would often convince the defending troops to surrender. Being wounded or shot while engaged with the enemy is one thing but being burned alive by a flamethrower. No one wants to burn to death, humans have a natural fear of dying by fire. Technically all the parts for the Panther F were built but a actual Panther F was never built. 20 Panther F hulls were built but only 2 prototype Panther F schmalturms were built. One hull is at the Patton Armor museum and has a late model Panther G turret on it. I think Aberdeen might have a Panther F hull also but Im not sure. Only the remains of one turret is gathered at Bovington. It was apparently used as a gunnery target til someone recognized what it was. The other Panther F turret was supposedly shipped to the US but it has since disappeared and no one knows what became of it. IIRC the Panther F hull would have had 100mm front armor and 50mm side hull armor angled at 45deg. |

Re: 3 different but similar suggestions Yes I agree with u, Anshulac11. At the fortress of Brest in Normandy, the US army couldn't see a way other than brute force to capture it, which would hav cost many lives. So they borrowed a Churchill Crocodile form the british in normandy, and set up targets out of range of the germans in Brest. Then the men of the Churchill crew were ordered to fire at the targets as best they could. I would imagine that they were VERY accurate, because after seeing htem in action the Germans at Brest gave up immediatly. Also, about the Panther F, it would be perfect on Alpenfestung, because the situation on Alpenfestung is just what it needs. The Germans have gained maybe another 6 months in the war, and the new Panther F, plus the new versions of Me262, Flettner, and Arado 234 have come into mass production in hidden factories. You should also replace the Panther Ds that spawn with Gs, until we (possibly) get the F. Remembering that there were around 500 made, do you think that they could have survived from 1943 to (say) 1946? Replace them with Gs, they made more Panther gs than tigers. |
