Raid on Aghelia and 1.6 Patch Content

I'm not entirely sure if this is legal, but after seeing the Kettenkrad with desert skin, M8 Greyhound and some other stuff from the BF1942 1.6 patch in FH I think there's a possibility.

As we all know, the BF1942 1.6 patch featured two maps; Liberation of Caen and Raid on Angeila. The Liberation of Caen map is currently in FH but not Raid on Angeila, this required SWoWWII to run because it featured some content from the expansion pack. To my awareness, this map did not feature and SWoWWII custom statics, but only ones that were either already in BF1942 or the 1.6 patch. Seeing as it is a patch, I propose a rather odd, but possibly attractive proposal:

I respectfully request that all the SWoWWII stuff be taken out of the Raid on Angeila, and add it into a future FH release.

This map is fairly attractive, and even for a DiCE Canada effort it's pretty fun and quite balenced too. Here are a few screenshots I took a few minutes ago that describe the landscapes in Raid on Angeila:

Through the 1.6 patch, we are also able to gain a new custom static and two vehicles; the mortar M3A1 APC and the Willy's Jeep with passenger mounted .30cal. The APC would need a modification but the Willy's Jeep could feature in some Africa and possibly some future Italy maps and maybe even a map featuring British commandos:

If I'm correct, we may also gain a new custom static; the radar tower. That is, if it's not in FH already:

The overall layout of the map:

It's true at times it can be just another flag race, but it can be fun. My ideas are to take away the flags on the hills, keep one main flag and expand the boundaries and fill them with custom statics, something similar in gameplay to Kasserine Pass. The out of bounds areas have some nice landscapes, with small dirt roads and canyons ideal for ambushes and traps. These areas just need a bit of tweaking with some flags, vegitation and some of the new broken down African houses featured in Supercharge:

Focusing on a future release, I have thought about the following vehicle layout:

Allied:

- M3 Stuarts
- Universal/Bren Gun Carriers
- Mosquitos or Hurricanes
- Willy's Jeep .30cal
- M3 Grants

Axis:

- Panzer III 37mm/50mm
- Panzer II
- Kubelwagen
- Macchi MC 202 Folgore/BF109
- Ju87 Stuka 250kg/500kg bomb
- Marder I/II/III
- Possibly some more Italian armour and planes

The kits would feature like this:

Allied:

- PIAT
- Sten Mk.II/M1A1 Thompson (maybe even an M1918 50 drum clip pickup)
- Lee Enfield No.4 (Engineer - setchels)
- Lee Enfield No.4 (Assault)
- Bren

Axis:

- Panzerfaust 60m/Panzerfaust shielded/unshielded (not sure on this one, availability/date)
- MP40
- K98 (Assault)
- K98 (Engineer - setchels)
- MP40 (Officer)

I'm focusing on light tank and infantry combat. Think of it as an encounter between a British Recce convoy and a German light armoured column posted near an airfield. It's probably not historically accurate, but possibly there's some fun to be had here. If it's legal, then I respectfully request it be added into FH if the feedback is positive. If it's illegal, then I just wasted a good hour or two preparing this, but it could be a good base for a mapper to work on with some ideas that I provided. Not top priority, in fact probably the lowest next to the Jagdtiger and Maus, but an idea non-the-less. Besides, all the Call of Duty Foy servers were packed.

:D

Any feedback, ideas? Feel free to discuss ideas on anything related here and please, no flaming. I didnt go through all this to get napalmed by you guys.

*Gets ready for the possibility that I'll be flamed by McGibs and Co. again*

seems like a good idea to me. that maps pretty good and is just going to waste, so itll be good if FH can convert it

Isnt the maps name supposed to be Aghelia? as in El Aghelia? Where Rommel retreated to to rest and rebuild after getting banged up pretty good at Sidi Rezegh.

Sorry, I cant spell. Anushac11 is right, it is Agheia. If it was a stop off so Rommel could rebuild, it only makes sense that the British have mostly recce on this map, seeing as they are sent out first well in advance of the rest of the troop.

And thanks for the comments Karst, I always try to provide organised and complete posts and threads, especially in the suggestion forum.

:)

I changed the name.

Only thing I would change is get rid of the M3 Stuart, M3 Grant, and Panzerfaust as they were not available then. The PzBch 39 A/T rifle would be good to replace the faust as it could penetrate all but the Valentine and Matilda II's

In place of the M3 Stuart maybe add the MkVI light tank or a Daimler armored car. Maybe in place of the M3 Grant add a Crusader II. Both vehicles would fit better in with the scout group idea.

M3 Stuart, M3 Grant, and Crusader III were first used at Gazala which took place about 2-3 months after this map should take place.

Re: Raid on Angeila and 1.6 Patch Content

Ok, I always thought a British recce troop consisted of one M3 Stuart, one Bren Gun carrier and one Daimler armoured car, at least after the Normandy landings. I have a book on mechanised warfare that demonstrates how they were used, with the light tank up front supported by a Bren Carrier and the Daimler issued with a radio and maps that can be used to report back to headquaters.

If we changed the Panzerfaust to the PzBch 39 A/T rifle then great, it could still do some damage and even out the map. If we added the Daimler it'd need to be a new remodeled/reskinned one, and it looks like the Crusader, Valentine and Mk.VI are all set up right for 0.67.

Some good ideas there Anlushac11, I think we could round it off a little and if it is legal, then seeing Aghelia in FH might be a possibility.

After March 1942 that is very possible. According to my data once the Brits git the Stuart's they remained the main light tank til end of the war.

I have seen pics of MkVI light tanks with the commander standing on a scissors scaffold on the MkVI behind a dune so that only he showed above the dune and he would scan horizon with binocs.
